Rwiza Village

Beautiful views from the bungalows which are small and basic but with a marvelous view from the balcony. Direct access to the lake. The food at the restaurant is delicious and nice restaurant staff. But...the access is a 500 meter dirt road...

Beautiful view. Basic rooms. All very clean but a bit run down. Basis kitchen/ restaurant. But good. Not easy to access the lake for a swim. Fair price for value. Breakfast and food is good. For Lake Kivu a very affordable option with tranquility.

Rwiza village is a beautiful place next to the Lake Kivu. The rooms are clean and have a nice view. The staff are friendly and helpful, and the breakfast is amazing. The price is good! I will highly recommend a stay. The only downsides are that the staff are not always on time, and the WiFi that was included was only available in the restaurant.

Magical place in calm punctuated by the outings of sinners. Swimming in the lake, boat trips to the islands. The peacefulness and attractiveness of the place charmed us. The service is attentive and the rooms, presented in individual boxes, have a very successful Robinson Crusoe feel.

We were exploring Rwanda, and wanted to stay in the Kibuye area. We saw Rwiza Village advertised, and could not resist booking our stay with them. Rwiza Village is like no other place that we have ever stayed at: the individual lodges, either overlooking Lake Kivu, or the gardens, are in the style of the past local area, have a balcony, catered for our needs, and were very comfortable. The staff were very friendly and helpful. The food was delicious, and was served in an outside open covered environment. A really nice touch too. The local fisherman come back to the harbour area each morning, and you can hear them singing en route. The boats are fabulous to watch. There is a farmers’ market across the lake each Friday. Yes, there is some noise from the local pigs being sold there, but so what really - not troublesome at all. It is all part of the area's experience, and enjoyment. We decided to take a boat trip to the local islands to see the bats and the monkeys. This has got to be done, and it gave us the opportunity to see more of the area itself from a different angle. This takes two hours. JoJo who was in charge of reception, and could not do enough for us. Thanks JoJo.

One of the affected area by this pandemic is travelling. I was forced to take my hiatus somewhere closeby where I don't need a flight to go to another destination. It turned out good anyway because I did not regret visiting this place. I stayed in one of their cute wooden cottages or some call it huts. There is no AC because you won't need it. Being close to the lake and having the floor elevated from the ground gives a good ventilation and circulation of cool breeze. You may get a good walking exercise if the cottage assigned to you is at the far end because the restaurant maybe is at the other end. There is no other restaurant close by the vicinity. If you will stay for few more days, I suggest that you bring enough drinking water because the resto closes at 10pm and they have small bottle water only. The shower has cold and hot water. You may need to bring your own shampoo and conditioner, only soap is provided. The internet is weak in some areas but they are in the process of improving it. The cottages don't have television...yes, you've read it right. No TV. Well, for me this is not a big issue because it helped me relaxed my mind and destress from all that's happening around the world. In the morning, you'll be awakened by the chirping of birds around the area. In the afternoon, it's so satisfying to watch the sunset. In the evening, it's so serene! All the staff are friendly and the service is very good.
