Ngorongoro Forest Tented Lodge

Nice main area with pool and a view area over parts of Ngorongoro forest. Room is half tent/stone bungalow with out door shower. Nice interior at the room, good bed. Food, dinner and breakfast, was good, only the coffee didn't taste good. Staff are very friendly and helpful.

Ngorongoro Forest Tented Lodge was one of the lodges and camps where we stayed on a 19 day safari through Kenya and Tanzania, booked through Tapestry of Africa and one of our biggest surprises. The lodge looks out across a valley and back towards the rim of the crater. You enter into a spectacular double story tented lodge building where the restaurant and bar are. This looks down onto a beautiful pool and deck area. To the left are the safari tents and the right are the solid structure rooms. We were in room 14, on the upper level of a four room two story block. It had a huge balcony and an amazing view down into the valley. The room was large and had two beds, a queen size and a single. We didn’t pretend to use the two beds and left the single untouched. The room had sofas at the end of each bed, and a large comfortable chair as well. It would be easy to spend a lot of time in the room, especially with the view. The bathroom was large with plenty of hot water and good water pressure. Lots of powerpoints made it easy to charge our phones, cameras and netbook. Although wifi was supposed to only be available in the lodge building, we were able to connect in our room. Down below the pool was what was called the viewing deck but it was much more. It was like a very comfortable open air living room. There was a mezzanine level in the lodge building that looked onto the pool and across the valley. We spent some good time here. Dinner was a fixed menu with a couple of choices. The food, the wine and the service were excellent. Although our room was very comfortable, we had a terrible night’s sleep due to an all night church service in the valley below. It went until 6am!! Bring earplugs is our #1 recommendation. Breakfast was a mix of buffet for continental and a la carte for cooked. It was ok. As with all of our accommodation our booking was full board. We took our picnic lunch with us after selecting what we wanted ourselves. It was a great idea in comparison to getting a pre-made lunch bag filled with things you might not want. Ngorongoro Forest Tented Lodge was another lodge with wonderful smiling staff, great accommodation and good food. It had a beautiful pool and two great areas to sit and relax. The lodge and our room were beautiful. We definitely recommend the lodge if you are travelling to the Ngorongoro Conservation Area, either on an organised safari, or as an independent traveller. Just make sure to take earplugs, and maybe book a tent as they looked amazing.

We enjoyed our stay here in a lovely room, very clean, good dinner although very early and insisting on being at table at 7.30. We arrived too late to enjoy the swimming pool and jacuzzi but recommend it after a day's safari. Lovely individual chalets

My friends and I had a great stay here. The staff were super friendly and accommodating and ensured we were comfortable throughout our stay. I have multiple food allergies and the entire staff ensured that I was catered for at all times. They took great care when preparing my food and the chef asked me multiple times to ensure everything was okay. They give a packed breakfast and lunch on the day of the safari since there is a very early start to the day and even then, they prepared my food separately and I was able to safely eat here during my stay. On the last night of our stay, they ensured the food they cooked for everyone was free of my allergens to ensure no risk of contamination and I was very impressed by their courtesy. This is something I have found is quite rare when travelling but the staff took amazing care of this and I had a very enjoyable stay. The rooms were spacious and very comfortable and the views are amazing. One of the staff took my friends and I on a hike around the area and was very informative, explaining the culture in the surrounding villages. We would highly recommend staying here as the location is beautiful and the staff are so friendly and kind. Our stay was very enjoyable!

The setup of the lodge and the separate tent cabins on stilts was neat. The outdoor shower was a fun surprise (there is also an indoor shower!) and the rooms were clean and well equipped. Since the rooms are spread out from the lodge, the staff was ready and willing to carry our bags for us. The food at the lodge was the best of our trip. The unique warm banana soup was my favorite - sweet and savory! We didn’t have a chance to use to pool, but the setup was beautiful for that too. Definitely recommend this lodge!

This lodge was much nicer than we expected. The tents were huge, with a good sized bathroom and wonderful outdoor shower. Although it was located on a bumpy road out of town, it was very pleasant. The views across the valley were beautiful and there were lots of places to sit and read. All of our meals were excellent and the staff was very helpful. We'd definitely stay here again.
