Six Senses Kanuhura

My daughter @libby4liberty and I were welcomed to @sixsenseskanuhura by JB, our Gem Rajeev, Adam, and Vel. Unfortunately I arrived very sick. The medical team made a room call then Libby and Rajeev took good care of me. Vel assisted my sick self in getting breakfast our first day. I didn’t get to snorkel on this trip, but I was able to enjoy the friendly staff: Suga and Ishani were over the top nice. The resort itself is beautiful and qualifies as a truly barefoot resort. The food is excellent. The Spanish restaurant named “The Point” actually has a Spanish chef from the Seville area. Don’t miss the salmon sushi, angus beef, polleto, churros, cheesecake, and of course coconut sorbet. My daughter loved the diving and snorkeling. The island itself is a turtle sanctuary and research area. The night before we arrived turtles hatched. This place is truly a delight to the “six” senses. We have visited many resorts in the Maldives, even the best ones, but we rate SIX SENSES KANUHURA the highest. This is a hotel that fulfills holiday dreams even for the most demanding guests. A beautiful adventure and a break from the everyday world begins in Male, where SIX SENSES has its large and comfortable room. Waiting for the waterplane is very pleasant. The welcome on Kanuhura island is ceremonial, accompanied by live music, during which we meet the most important people and a dedicated host who will take care of us during our stay. A great moment is the obligatory removal of shoes and putting them in special bags. We put our shoes on only after our stay on Kanuhura is over. There are 4 excellent restaurants on Kanuhura - it is difficult to say which is the best, because each of them offers a different cuisine, and the dishes are very tasty and of excellent quality. During your stay, you use all the restaurants alternately, and additionally, culinary theme evenings, a barbecue on the beach and a cocktail party with the management are organized. All dishes are served perfectly by very committed and professional waiters. During the day, delicious ice cream, cakes and coffee are served. Kanuhura Island is beautifully situated, in the distance you can see other islands. Around Kanuhura there is a beautiful ocean in all shades of blue and azure and a nice, well-kept beach. The villas are nice, well-equipped, and the surroundings are beautifully arranged with greenery. We really appreciated the cleaning service, which made every effort to make our stay comfortable and pleasant. Right next to Kanuhura is the uninhabited small island of Jenuhura, where you can have lunch at no extra charge and organize a private dinner under the stars and a movie screening on the big screen - then on the island there are only us, the waiter and the cook. These are unique, priceless moments that you remember for the rest of your life. A huge number of colorful fish, small sharks, rays swim around the island, crabs walk on the beach, and sometimes beautiful glowing plankton appears. Kanuhura has its own HAUSE REEF - it is really big and exceptionally well-preserved. Diving is an amazing experience, if you are not a diver, of course. DIVING CENTER deserves special mention, which offers the highest quality and professionalism. Aan, together with Elisa and Rob, do a really good job not only because of their knowledge of all the local nooks of the ocean and diving techniques, but also because of the great atmosphere that they can create together. Diving with such a team becomes not only an underwater adventure, but also deeply relaxing. Here you do not have to worry about where you will dive, if you have all the equipment with you, what the conditions are like in the water - the Dive CENTER team remembers all of this. We just had 11 nights of absolute indulgence at the six senses. This place was beyond beautiful and exceeded our expectations by 100000 times! From the moment we arrived we were welcomed warmly and were whisked into the incredible Maldives hospitality and care. It was wonderful and all staff were so kind, helpful and very friendly - we felt completely spoilt! We can’t recommend the hotel and service enough - thank you for giving us incredible memories for such a special family trip. Oh and the food - wow! Great cocktails too. Snorkeling was like a dream - We loved everything so leaving was hard but we hope to be lucky enough to return one day. Xxx

I think we’ve found our happy place. We visited Six Senses Kanahura as a couple for our Silver Wedding Anniversary in October 2023, but we just had to go back with our family this year, so that they could also experience the most tranquil holiday ever. It was also my wife’s 50th birthday, so a great excuse to book this trip. Kanahura is like most Maldivian Islands, so you can expect picture perfect white sands and a beautiful blue ocean. Where it differs from many, is that it is a perfect size to walk around, and you can do this without leaving the perimeter of the beach. Many islands have a “rough” side or an area that is inaccessible, but not here. You are also provided with bicycles or can be picked up by golf kart and taken wherever you wish to go on the island. It didn’t take long for us to settle in again, and our children understood and agreed with us instantly just what all the fuss had been about. Nothing too much had changed in a year, albeit the food menus had been revised to offer even more choice. Our favourite people were still here, managers and staff, and it was so lovely that we felt genuinely remembered by so many of them. I guess this is the point so many people make about Six Senses Kanahura, it’s the people who work on the island that turn a beautiful place into Paradise. Nothing is any trouble, ever, and every request is met with a kind and warm hearted smile. When you speak to the team here, it is so interesting to know who they are, where they are from, and to know that Six Senses IHG treat them well and appreciate them. We met people from India, Mauritius, Nepal, Ibiza, and of course we could never forget about you JB ( France ). Sameeh, our Gem, and one of the locals connected to us via a what’s app group, and this was invaluable to us. When we needed him, he was either there straight away in person or with the information we required. Highlights are many, but we really recommend engaging with the Water Sports team who took us on Jet skis to get up close and personal with the dolphins, on their motor boat to meet the turtles and the sharks, or testing out some of their brand new and on trend water sports equipment. Electric hydrofoil anybody? Ibrahim, you just have a way of knowing where to go and what to do …thank you. Other highlights include sunset drinks at The Point, the weekly BBQ on the beach, and just chilling in or around your beautifully appointed room ( all categories included, but for us the beach villas with pool offer the best of everything with easy access to the beach and sea and for a reasonable price). One family highlight ( apart from having complimentary ice cream on tap ) was the daily family game of Pétanque that we played on the beach by Sip & Sand.
