Ghonday Village Resort Kaluk Sikkim

Beautiful vacation at Gonday resort from 2/12/23 to 5/12/23.Rooms were clean with baranda. Bathroom was very convenient and good.Hot water was available always. Restaurant is good but needs improvement. Best part is Himalayan view. One of the best view I have seen is from ..I was in south Kabru.But all the rooms are with good view. Highly recommended for leisure and vacation.

The resort is beautifully decorated with a great view of the mountains. You can sit in your room's balcony and even from your bed you can see the whole range. The rooms are spacious and tastefully decorated. The ambiance is elegant and the staff are very cooperative.. The restaurant menu has quite a lot of variety..and beware of ordering for the quantity was huge. Five of us shared 3 plates of rice.

First of all the atmosphere of the hotel is just wonderful. I stayed here 4 nights and enjoy too much. And the view of the Kanchenjunga moutain range is just phenomenal from the room. The all staffs are very helpful and adorable. Nice to see you all. I hope will visit again. Specially mention the beautiful lady Reshma Gurung is very helpful and others girls as well. Thank you so much to all for the memorable trip. Thank you again.

Went with low expectations but was so so pleasantly surprised... Amazing views on a clear day, great cleanliness and fresh awesome food... obviously variety was not as in a 5 star hotel, but quality of food was fantastic. the staff were extremely nice and courteous, very hard working too. Linen was changed everyday. Would love to go back again and just relax in one of the cottages for a few days!

We had stayed for 2 night in May 2022 after finishing our Silk route trip. We drove from Gangtok and the road to Kaluk is really good and picturesque. The road passes through Singtam Forest Block, Ranipool, Meli, Jorethang, Chakung, Soreng, etc. to reach Kaluk. it is a drive of more than 5 hours. We have to first exit Sikkim and enter West Bengal (Kalimpong ) and then enter Sikkim. The travel was very pleasant. We reached around 3.00PM. the place is located near the small main market. The road to the property from the main road is really pathetic and needs improvement. The property belongs to one family which is very famous in the area. Very well managed and decorated in an esthetic way. The room was a good one at the Ground floor and the rooms provide good view of Kanchenjunga range. On a clear day, the view will be awesome. we had just one chance to see the range in the morning hours but the Sun was already at a higher level. You need to travel in Oct/Nov/Dec to see the beauty. There were plenty of greenery inside the property. We also booked our cab for local sightseeing and drop at Mirik. The food was very good and the service is really good. The charges are at a higher side when you consider the point that breakfast is not complimentary. We spent one day for sightseeing at Pelling area as Kaluk has not much to offer except a good walk on the main road with very few vehicles to disturb you. We enjoyed our visit.

Hotel is good but I had to give single star rating due to dealing of hotel manager Mr Puran Gurung. I had booked the hotel through advance payment to him. Also, I paid him advance for booking of vehicle for my entire itinerary of Kaluk and Pelling. He had arranged a vehicle of owner/driver Mr Tsewang Bhutia. These two fellows have spoilt my entire second half of the trip. This Mr Bhutia picked me up from NJP and conducted the site seeing of Kaluk. But, soon after he showed his actual devil face by just dumping me at Pelling without any vehicle. Entire planning and agreement was for a luxury vehicle for 06 persons as I had my old aged mother and mother-in-law with me. These fellows gave a damn to honour the agreement (most likely to deal with another party, Mr Tsewang kept on calling other people for better deal while driving) and left me and my family at Pelling without a vehicle for site seeing or drop to NJP station. The situation was extremely pathetic as tremendous tourist rush was prevailing; no rooms, no vehicle. I had to roam around upper Pelling to lower Pelling for a suitable vehicle. Each day I wasted my 3-4 hours to arrange a vehicle, my tour was without any peace. When I called them they started abusing me. I had to pay huge money to local travel agent (eg. for NJP drop I paid Rs 9000 whereas normal rate is 5000). Only minutes before starting for NJP (where I have to catch a train) I could manage to get the vehicle. One can imagine the plight of us. I will not forgive these fellows who ruined my entire holidays. These people are dishonest, unprofessional and doing unethical business only. This is the worst travel experience in my life. I will recommend not to visit these places, better to visit other hill stations where people add value to their words and do not humiliate visitors.
