We so wanted this to be the best 2 night start to our honeymoon but I’m afraid the hotel is just too dirty and jaded to be recommended. It certainly should not be Hilton recommended or described as a Small Luxury Hotel. The setting is exceptional, quirky and relies on its heritage to attract. However, whilst being ‘jaded’ might translate to some as ‘rustic’, this property is just not maintained to any level of acceptance to the point of potentially being unsafe…dozens of broken tiles risking cuts, missing cobblestones set to trip the unwary, smashed marble cladding, broken lights, shabby chairs and tables and paint peeling everywhere. You might live with that but what I really disliked was that it simply dirty. Whilst our room was very clean the public areas are dirty…unswept, piles of junk/ plastic chairs and detritus, thousands of ants in the outside bar area where peanuts etc had been dropped and the place clearly not swept for weeks and weeks. The place needs closing for a week, a damn good jet washing and a few skips to take away all the broken materials. Pointless complaining as so much of the site was like this and just seeing other reviews having just started to write this sees many have experienced similar with defensive responses from management. Such a shame as the setting and heritage is brilliant…Hilton / Small Luxury Hotel? Absolutely no way…

Firstly the Pros The location is stunning and (obviously) has a genuine village feel so missing from the majority of coastal developments Rooms are full of character and well-equipped. Comfortable beds and quality linens Helpful and charming staff Good value for money A truly unique property in a beautiful and underrated part of the country Cons Cats: obviously not a 'con' if you live cats, I'm ambivalent but some were quite aggressive. There are a lot of cats here Attention to detail: Outside seating was bit grubby and towel rail in room was rusting - balcony furniture very tired (to be fair the seats were being cleaned on our departure and weather had been wet) Parking: quite hard to find Service: Was attentive but sometimes the staff seemed like they didn't have much t do so was bordering on over attentive at times (accept this is a personal preference and preferred to be left alone to refill wine glasses etc) A pool would be nice but completely understand that this have to be seasonal

This is one of the loveliest hotel experiences we have ever had. The way this hotel is integrated into the village is the most endearing aspect. Instead of being a walled off resort it sits within and spread through the village. The facilities are also excellent. Our room was Maratho 1. Close to the facilities, but also still very much in the village. The room was large with a terrace courtyard visited by friendly cats, who are fed by the hotel. The breakfast selection was superb, albeit more fresh fruit platters would have been appreciated. The spa was lovely and world class. The restaurants were also stunning. Loutraki is special, but Byzantino was great for traditional food too.

I booked Casale Panayiotis for a relaxing break, specifically because of the spa. A couple of days before arriving, I called to check availability. I was told treatments were fully booked but was offered a spa day pass — no mention that the spa and treatment rooms were under renovation. When I arrived, I was told the spa would open the next day. I returned as advised, only to be told it was actually closed for another 10 days. So not only was nothing available, but I was misled at every step — from the initial phone call to arrival. Had I been told the truth, I would have booked elsewhere. The hotel is beautiful and the setting is lovely, but the lack of honesty was unacceptable. If you’re planning to come for the spa, double-check everything in writing. I’m giving two stars for the location only — the experience did not reflect what was promised.

Firstly, special mention for Fernando in reception, so helpful, so knowledgeable about the trails. Hopefully, management recognise management potential when they see it. We were a little hesitant to book due to some poor reviews. I have to say we were very happy with our two night break and will return for sure. Some reviewers said staff were poor, this is nonsense, staff were excellent throughout. I would advise paying the extra for a suite as this gives you 2 hours per day in the spa facilities which includes pool, sauna, snow room etc. Breakfast was excellent, food very fresh and staff very helpful, proper coffee served with breakfast and have as many as you like. Restaurants, we visited both Byzantine and Loutraki. We thought Loutraki was a little below par compared to what we expected, quality produce let down by lack of seasoning, and very few vegetables. Byzantine on the other hand was excellent from start to finish. The area is amazing especially if you like a good hike, the Winery across the valley is worth a visit aswell.

Nestled on the steep slopes of the Troodos Mountains, the village of Panayiotis in Cyprus feels like something out of a fairytale. As you approach, the sight of its terracotta rooftops clinging to the mountainside strikes you with its picturesque beauty. The village, almost magically suspended above the valley, beckons visitors with its timeless charm. The journey into Panayiotis involves navigating winding roads that offer breathtaking views at every turn. Upon arrival, the village unfolds with a mix of quaint alleyways and traditional stone houses. One of its highlights is the boutique hotel Casale Panayiotis. Tucked away at the end of a narrow alley, its reception is housed in one of the original village homes, and all the rooms are spread across these restored historic buildings, offering an authentic experience in a setting that blends rustic charm with modern comfort. However, the village itself is a bit deceptive. As you wander the winding streets, you expect to stumble upon bustling squares or hidden gems, but most paths lead to yet more clusters of old, quiet homes. The beauty of these ancient houses is undeniable, yet with every turn, you find yourself met with the same tranquil scenery, and it can grow monotonous. While Panayiotis is steeped in history, there is surprisingly little in the way of attractions or cultural experiences. Aside from the beautifully preserved medieval monastery on the outskirts, the village supermarket seems to be the only other cultural event worth visiting, offering a modest selection of local goods. Adding to the village's charm—and frustration—is the heat. In the sweltering summer sun, all you want to do is dive into a cool pool. And there it is, like a shimmering mirage—an inviting, crystal-clear swimming pool that sticks out like a glistening jewel, cantilevered over a back garden from one of the old stone houses. It’s private, of course, and completely off-limits. This tantalizing sight, hanging just out of reach, only heightens the longing for relief, making it both alluring and annoyingly inaccessible. For a touch of excitement, the village funicular is a curious novelty. This small cable car whisks you from one street to another, offering sweeping views of the village and valley as it ascends the steep hill. While the funicular is a highlight, it underscores the quiet, slow-paced nature of the village. In summary, Panayiotis is perfect for those seeking peace, history, and a scenic retreat. However, beyond its medieval monastery and charming streets, the village is quiet—sometimes to a fault—with little to offer in the way of traditional tourist attractions. Still, its serene beauty and unique accommodations make it an unforgettable, if understated, getaway.
