This was the worst Marriott property we have ever stayed at. It is Run Down but even worse, our room was Filthy. The staff were dressed shabbily and hung around the front and side parking lots smoking and shooting the breeze. They should have been cleaning and otherwise helping guests. I called Marriott customer service to complain and ask to move to another property in the area. Because we checked in before seeing the room, they said they could not help. We should be able to TRUST that we would get a clean and decent room, not have to go inspect rooms after a long day of travel. The customer service rep told me in order to open report to document my complaint, I had to provide a PIN number. I made a few guesses but couldn’t get it right. I don’t recall ever setting a PIN number for Marriott but even if I did and forgot it, I still should have a way to get help. We were honestly Leary of complaining at the front desk as we saw an employee arguing with other customers and making them upset. I am attaching pictures of our room. Stay away!

DO NOT STAY HERE (near Western Michigan University)! Severe bed bug attack at this hotel. They are not returning my call and claim via email from Marriott that their exterminator said no bedbugs at the property. The bed bug attack was severe (see photos below)! Marriott referred the issue to the hotel mgmt and they are non-responsive. My hope is this review helps them understand the severity of the issue.

Needs cleaning and maintenance. Room smelled terrible had to go buy spray twice. Missing pieces to furniture, cob webs in room, rusty fixtures. Blow dryer was in bad shape could have seriously hurt someone. The outside had weeds, filthy windows and outside furniture.

This hotel seems to be understaffed. The front desk staff was working so hard: cleaning rooms, checking guests in and out, serving breakfast, etc. Because of this, many times they were not at the front desk. They were wonderful and committed and I firmly believe, as a Lifetime Titanium Elite member, that they are not the source of the problems. They should be lauded. Unfortunately, the property itself did not live up to the Marriott brand standards by any means. My A/C was not functional and the room temperature never went below 76 degrees, despite running the fan on high and the setting on cool. They were full (believe it or not) so I could not change rooms. The microwave was dirty, the carpet was also filthy and the shower soap was empty. The bedding seemed clean, thankfully! The location is not ideal. I recommend staying closer to or in the downtown area. I will not stay here in the future, despite the friendly staff.

I first stayed here in 2016, and it needed a renovation back then; however, they could do a much better cleaning job, and it would be less noticeable. I had to get clean sheets from the front desk to remake my bed a couple of minutes after check in since the comforter and sheets where dirty. Thankfully, I had my own blanket in my car I could use. The bathrooms, table, kitchen were so filthy that I had to grab some Lysol wipes just to feel like it was somewhat clean. The shower had either a weird string or noodle stuck on the top corner of the shower wall liner. I could not even bring myself to try to get it. Handprints, layers of dirt stuck in corners and on baseboards, weird white spots on the carpet that could easily come up with spot cleaner. As far as it offering the conveniences of home, we had only 1 coffee cup and no glasses. It was so overpriced, I will not stay here again. The pros is that they had decent coffee in the AM that was set out a little earlier than the breakfast was supposed to start, and the breakfast person and front desk person were very nice.

I wanted a hotel for 5 nights that had space to spread out (i.e. a living room, kitchen, and bedroom with 2 queens) that would not be overpriced yet convenient to I-94, US 131, and downtown Kazoo. This place checked all the boxes. A bonus was the large number of affordable restaurants, including Culver's, Ted & Marie's, and Jac's, that were within 2 miles of the hotel. The hotel itself is not going to spoil you with luxury. I would say it is "function over form." The staff are friendly if you have a request and housekeeping is available but not mandatory. Breakfast was the same every day, usually bacon and an egg item as the hot options along with yogurt and milk and juices and breads. Everything in our room worked fine, from internet to kitchen (with pots, pans, cups, plates, glasses). Coffeemaker was single serve pod. Microwave and dishwasher including (along with dishwashing liquid and dishwasher soap pod). TONS of closet and storage space. TVs in both rooms were very small, flat screen but tiny. Bathroom was small but plenty of basic toiletries. Towels are threadbare, should be replaced yesterday (probably washed way too many times with softener?). Would I stay here again? Not for a one night visit but YES for 5 night extended stay.

My room was much larger than expected and had all the amenities for a comfortable stay. The front desk people went above and beyond their duties and were exceptional in their service. I had a light bulb out and it was replaced within 12 hours. The breakfast selections were hearty and varied. I would definitely recommend this hotel!

This hotel did not meet expectations. We had to stay here for a hockey tournament and the hotel was not great. The rooms were dirty and run down. Everything was dingy, scuffed up, or marked with dirt or handprints etc. An adult in our group swam in the pool and got a rash. Said the pool was dirty and full of debris and bugs. So we did not let our kids swim the entire weekend. We stayed on the 3rd floor and the entire floor smelled like **** and cigarettes - a great atmosphere for a children’s hockey team to stay. The lounge area is only open for breakfast so there was nowhere to just sit as a team together. We even asked if we could get pizza and have our kids all sit together to eat there and they said no it’s closed and no one is allowed in there. The only good thing about this hotel was the location- it was very close to the ice rink. Otherwise, can’t say I’d ever choose to stay here again. The fact that it cost over $300 for 2 nights is astonishing.

Smells like stale smoke. In desperate need of a remodel. I was not comfortable with the clientele hanging out at the front door. No one monitoring front desk when we tried to check out 10 minutes after checking in. It was THAT bad. There are plenty of other options in the area.
