Imagine this: We contacted the homestay via Trip since we’re using eSIMs, making local calls impossible. So, we shared our WeChat contact to arrange pick-up service. But guess what? Crickets. For three agonizing days, no response whatsoever. What’s more, The front desk staff were not just unhelpful but also downright rude, claiming they tried to reach us when our call logs prove otherwise.
The homestays I’ve booked in Yunnan are mostly 2nd or 3rd floor room as well, the service team will lead us to the room and help us the carry up the luggages, even upon check-out. However, no one helps to carry lugagges and led the way to the room, front desk simply pointing directions from the lobby. We booked for 3 persons and only after carry up our luggages to our room and find out it was set up for 2 persons. The front desk did not even share like wechat contact to talk to so we have to walk down again to get our room ready with amenities that we need.
Hungry for dinner suggestions? So were we, until we were abandoned outside the hotel in the dark, searching for a restaurant that apparently didn’t exist shown by the guy with glasses, whom I’m not sure whether he is “the boss” or whatever.
And get this: Locked out of the homestay at 9 pm on consecutive nights, with no explanation or concern for our well-being when they finally let us in.
The reason why I’m writing is simply because the 3rd point is truly unacceptable. Who would want to book an accomodation only to be locked outside and could not get in?
