Fitzhugh House Guest Accommodation

On arrival we were told all the information we needed by the owner in a very blunt way but that was it, we didn't see any staff member again during our 6 night stay. Our room was clean & fairly spacious with good wifi, location was very good. A great bonus was watching a mother Black Bear & her cub eating fruit in a tree across the road one morning, Tip, if you want to see bears in Jasper drive around in the morning looking out for Parks Canada vehicles as they escort the bears out of town, we saw another mother & cub by doing this, much better success rate than driving around the forest roads

The house is quiet and well appointed. Unfortunately there isn’t any air conditioning and it was very warm while we were there. We understand that they aren’t used to those kinds of temps though, so we dealt with it as best we could. The biggest disappointment was finding an extra charge from them on our credit card statement. When I called to inquire as to why, I was informed that it’s an adult-only place and we didn’t mention children. While it’s true that we didn’t (because at any place we’ve ever stayed children are free), there isn’t anywhere I’ve seen online that mentions they’re adult-only. In fact, the description on Google specifically says kid-friendly. We weren’t given any advance notice of an extra charge either. I guess I’d just beware and make sure to read everything before booking with them. Definitely not a nice way to end our trip.

Après un accueil des plus brefs et froid, La principale préoccupation de la propriétaire à notre arrivée était que nous retrouvions le mail envoyé qui comportait toutes les indications pour notre autonomie. Le tout en anglais car elle ne parlait pas le français. Contrairement à ce qui est indiqué. La chambre qui est en sous sol ne voit jamais la lumière du jour. La petite fenêtre est cerclée d’un rideau métallique bloquant toute intrusion de lumière. L’insonorisation de la chambre est inexistante. La chambre est très propre à l’arrivée mais pas de renouvellement de produit d’accueil et pas d’entretien durant le séjour. La literie vous fait partager les mouvements de votre partenaire. Je dirais que cette chambre et d’un style montagnard et non contemporain.
