This particular lemon tree at Banjara hills is the worst hotel I have even stepped foot into. From the very beginning there was disappointment. The moment we reached, the security guard was reluctant to carry our bags from our car to the lobby. When we told this to the reception, Ms. Debasmita was equally cold but asked the guard to do it. It seemed as if the guard guy was unhappy doing this. Check-in experience was non-existent. There was no welcome drink, no explanation of what is where. The moment we stepped foot out of the elevator into the first floor to go to our room, we were greeted by the smell of dusty carpet and damp walls. It is clearly visible. The room, 103, smelled damp too. The room was a nightmare. The walls have paint peeling, the wardrobe was dusty, the table had marks of hot iron, the fridge was a biological laboratory. The mattress spring will hurt your pelvic bones because they are so old. Each piece of linen was torn at many places and had stain marks. The pillows lost their puffiness. The bedside tables were the dirtiest. I had to wipe the telephone, remotes and table with dettol wipes before use as it seemed full of gunk and germs. The sofa was never cleaned or dusted. In the washroom, the mirror had lead stains, the sink was dirty, there were no basic amenities, taps had hard water stains and most annoying thing was asking for a bath mat. Seemed as if we made a mistake asking for it because the hotel is always short on linen and towels. Even all the towel has threads coning out from the sides. Bath mat is same as face towel. So don’t be surprised to find a toe nail in our face next day. Pavan, the houskeeping guy is busy on his phone 24x7. Tell him anything and he says “jaane se pehle deke jata hu” never to come back. He doesn’t put water bottles in the room because there is one bottle left over from previous day. While you are staying, there will be no deep cleaning. We stayed there more than a week and it got worse every day. Also, he removed the coffee cups from the room to clean them and never replaced it. We had to ask so many times but ultimately went down to the restaurant to get two mugs by myself. The restaurant service is perhaps the only one thing that you might get away with. It better than al the other things. Jam and the team are trying very hard to make the best of what they have. Hygiene is not the priority. Food, is very very spicy. Maybe the level of spice is common to people of HYD but it is not toned down for guests from other parts of the country. The head chef should think about this. In conclusion, all the five star reviews here are forced. They will keep calling you “courtesy call” until you give a five star review. I snapped at one of them and then the calling stopped. For the price and the brand, this hotel is the worst choice.
