AC Hotel Huntsville Downtown

The check in associate was pleasant, which is great. I prefer a digital key and direct to room, personally. The rooms are clean. 2 water bottles were waiting in the fridge. Bathroom spacious. Overnight we could hear the room above us walking around. I got a knock from housekeeping waking me up at 8:30am. I had a 2pm checkout due to status, so why would I be gone at 8:30am? Then it got worse...another knock around 9:25. And again 5 minutes later. What in the world? I had the "do not disturb" sign on the door this whole time too! Nothing like feeling like you're being kicked out of the room bright and early. Went down to grab breakfast. Service was at breakfast was...interesting...as in we had to find someone to even ask if we should sit or wait to be seated. She then asked, are you ordering food or eating the buffet. Quick glance at the buffet and could tell it hadn't been stocked in awhile. I answered ordering food. She proceeded to take our order, without offering a menu, right in the middle of the hallway. Didn't offer to bring drinks, so I helped myself to the coffee in the lobby instead. The meal was cold when it arrived. I wouldn't recommend eating breakfast at the hotel...even if you have a breakfast credit. We ended up leaving early and not using the late checkout. If you don't expect much, this is a clean place to stay. Unfortunately, it seems to have gone downhill service-wise since I was last there 2 years ago...but so has almost everywhere.

Location is perfect if you are going to a concert at the Von Braun Center, which is practically next door. The hotel faces beautiful Big Spring Park and the Huntsville Museum of Art. There is a restaurant and bar onsite but it is also just a short walk to Twickenham Square, where there are a couple of restaurants and a Publix. Parking is valet only, but the attendants were always present and they also give you a number to text to request your car. The room was clean, comfortable, and in the modern style you expect from AC. Great base to explore the arts in the Rocket City.

The hotel and staff were great. Clean rooms, great location. HOWEVER, they have recently switched to valet only parking for their rear parking lot. This is an extra $25 (plus tip). The valet staff were extremely rude. When I pulled up to the only spot to unload luggage it has a sign that states 15 minutes parking, which is plenty. I informed the valet staff that I wouldn’t be utilizing their service. The first person said, “good luck finding parking on the street, the back parking lot is valet only and we tow everything”. I brushed this off and began unloading along with family. A second valet staff came along and immediately stated he needed to get some information from me. I informed him we wouldn’t be using valet. He stared at me for a solid 5 seconds like he was disgusted. He also told me that they would tow me if I parked in the back lot. I ignored him and started going up the steps when he said, “and you need to move your vehicle cause we have other people coming in for valet”. I turned around and told him I saw the 15 minute sign and that it would be moved within that time frame. He commented again about how that’s really only for when the valet is not working. All of this was done in front of my two young boys and wife. Again, the hotel was fine, but the valet company needs to go!

The front desk was pleasant and the rooms were clean, however, I would not recommend you try to eat at their restaurant or ask to speak with management. I trace weekly for business and choose hotels that have an on-site restaurant because I don’t get much down time. I visited the restaurant, sat at the bar and placed my order for the shrimp and spinach as well as a drink. My drink was immediately given to me. Time was getting late and I was still waiting so I asked when I could expect my food. I was told it would be soon because they were backed up. I waited patiently for an hour so I asked again as it was getting very late and I was extremely hungry. I was told they forgot my order but would get on it right away and it would be no charge. They came back to me after 20 minutes and was told they ran out of shrimp and to write them a bad review. I left the bar after being made to pay for my drink and went downstairs to talk to management. I was informed that management was not on site and there was nothing they could do. It was too late to have anything ordered so I went to bed hungry and angry. Reasons like this is why people are impatient at restaurants because no one likes being forgot about.

Once again this hotel finds away to screw over people and this time my name wasn't on the booking so I know this wasn't targeted towards me it's just bad management at this point. Once again I was in town for the Huntsville Expo. We booked the AC Hotel as soon as the room blocks opened which means we booked it asap last year around September or November can't really remember. Anyways these guys decided to wait the WEEK of the Expo that we lost our hotel room because they over booked by 14 rooms. How is it that we made the list and we were one of the first people to book our room. The right thing to do is they should have went by who booked last and they didn't. It was as if they just randomly picked people to kick out and move them somewhere else. Super unprofessional. When we asked how it was possible we made that list they couldn't provide an answer. They ended up moving us to the Spring Hill hotel which index up being a 10 minute walk to and from the Expo. Idk what's going on at this hotel but it's the second time we somehow got screwed over. Do better guys. 2 years in a row you've got us. Smh!

I stayed here for a week while my child was at camp. The hotel is located right across from Big Spring Park and my view was gorgeous. The staff here are amazing, the lobby bar is nice-they also have breakfast in the morning for a fee, and the hotel also has an outdoor bar/restaurant which is pretty hip and cool. It's walking distance to all the great downtown restaurants and bars as well. I'm very happy that I chose this hotel.

I was in Huntsville Alabama for work and had the pleasure of staying at the AC hotel in beautiful downtown Huntsville. I am not familiar with this brand at all. It had a very European vibe including the breakfast. The staff was exceptional. The room was spacious. And due to the fact it was 102° outside the air worked spectacular. If you are in the Huntsville area and looking for a great place to stay check this hotel out.
