Bedrooms at the Worsley hotel are from a bygone time. Stayed 2 nights over the bank holiday week-end (and would have gone somewhere else if it wasn’t for the fact it was the August bank holiday). Obviously, no money has been spent on updating for probably years and years. Furnishings from the 70’s, dark worn furniture and tub chairs with grubby coverings. The bed was comfortable but that was the only good thing. Bathroom was archaic! A metal shower frame over the central part of the bath and the shower curtain was very awkward to close. Also, if you weren’t athletic you would not manage stepping in or out of the bath. Toilet and sink very dated. Bedside tables and lamps covered in dust. Entrance door to the room was glass with a white net type curtain, not your usual type of entrance door. All in all we felt we were in the forgotten back end of the building. How the hotel owners can charge £150.00 for such a room is unbelievable. We did not feel welcome during our stay as the staff never smiled, never bothered to make any conversation. During our visit to Yorkshire we stayed in a few other places and enjoyed tastefully, newly refurbished rooms and a very friendly service…….also for less money.

We stayed at the Worsley Arms for 3 nights this week … our 3rd visit. It’s an elegant, unique place in a lovely village in a lovely area. Our room was spacious and the bed was very comfortable. From there we were able to visit some great locations … Nunnington Hall and the North Yorkshire Moors Railway. We’ll be back soon.

The location is picture perfect, in a lovely Yorkshire village. The staff were friendly and hardworking, the food excellent. We stayed in one of the cottage rooms located opposite the hotel. The room was very comfortable, with a pristine bathroom. We would definitely go back. There are lots of great places to visit nearby such as York, Castle Howard, Nunnington Hall and Yorkshire Lavender in the summertime.

Brilliant two night stay while judging at Malton show. After a long journey, we were warmly welcomed and shown to the room. Very clean and comfortable pillows and bed. Food is brilliant, highly recommend the pie! Cannot fault the breakfast and the price for a two night stay. Thank you to all the staff for wonderful stay. (Another bonus point that the staff are very friendly and approachable)

We booked a table at the restaurant and we’re most disappointed by expensive but awful food. Haddock was brown and mushy rather than white and flaky, risotto was tasteless and had a strange potato croquet on the top, the only dish that seemed ok was the slow roasted pork. There were lots of flies, one of which landed in my sister in law’s food, so she couldn’t finish it… when we told the waiter he just said sorry, but offered nothing to put it right! The desserts were ok, but nothing to write home about, and by the time I’d seen flies crawling over all the clean cups, set on one side,my appetite was completely lost! I would recommend anyone to avoid this place at all costs !

We ate here two nights running as the food was so delicious. By far the best Steak & Ale pie we have ever had. The meals and desserts were so flavoursome and great service too. We sat in the bar area as we have a dog (Evie) and they even brought out a sausage for her on both occasions. A lot of locals clearly use the hotel bar and were really friendly and welcoming too. Lovely place, highly recommend.

We are a couple staying locally and were looking for an evening meal on a Sunday, all pubs stop serving in the afternoon. Happened upon this hotel by accident and took a chance. Very nice meal and friendly staff, a very lucky find. Highly recommend, we even took away a nice bottle of Merlot to enjoy at our Airbnb which was excellent value at £10

Called in for lunch and got ignored by man behind bar. He was relaying a long story to some people and made no eye contact with us. It was our first and last visit! Made to feel invisible. We were curious about the hotel but based on this experience we would never return.

Called in for lunch adhoc on a visit to the area house hunting. What a fortunate decision as the lunch was absolutely delicious (best chicken & Leek pie I've ever had) & the black pudding starter was outstanding. Fair price for a wonderful culinary lunch. Plenty of parking to the rear & friendly staff.
