Wanderstay Houston Hostel

Wanderstay is amazing, but Houston does have a significant homeless population, and higher than average crime. My car was broken into on my latest visit. No fault of the management, but I recommend paying a few dollars extra for protected parking.

The hostel was clean, and the staff was friendly. The number code was easy to use, and I had the Galveston Room to myself with a private bath. The only issue I had was that the hostel is not staffed during the night. I returned from the rehearsal dinner at 10:20 pm and there were weird noises in my bathroom. The floor was flooded and water was dripping down from the fan in the ceiling. I called the emergency number and the person who answered asked me to go to the washroom upstairs and check it out. The floor was flooded and the toilet was jammed and overflowing. They asked me to lock the washroom door so no one could come in. I turned off the water to the toilet first, so at least no more water would come down into my room. But they weren't going to address the issue until 8:30am the next day. Fortunately, I didn't have to shower before the afternoon and went on a long bike ride across town to museums and flea markets, but you can see that most people's travel plans would be compromised by that lack of staffing. Other than that, it was a pleasant stay. I was able to bring the eBike into my room to charge it at night. I was able to drop off my linen and towels and check out in the morning before the staff arrived. I felt totally safe in the neighborhood, even biking late at night, and walking in the pre-dawn hours from 7am until 8am. Mostly Houston feels deserted at those times. I came to Houston for three days/two nights for a wedding, and I ended up renting both a car and an eBike. Most of the events and sights downtown are totally accessible from the hostel by bike (in March it's not too hot), however, the main wedding venue was out on the other side of Lake Houston and the 3 day car rental was cheaper than the 3 day eBike and got me to the venue and from the airport and back. I strongly recommend the EaDo Bike Rental place. They are good people.

This was a fabulous hostel stay while we were in Houston. We came for the rodeo and this place was awesome. We were able to meet other people and had so much fun together. I also really loved the decor and the coziness of the hostel. The hostel is also very clean.

If you are a solo traveler looking for a safe and friendly place to stay, you will love wanderstay. stayed here for a night and rebooked to come again over the summer. highly recommend if you are needing a good value and a place to meet new friends.

This was a Very nice hostel, it felt super cozy and unique. The area felt very safe and as women we were able to navigate with no issues. Very great value and we will definitely stay here again. We loved the large beds and the kitchen area upstairs.
