Holiday Inn Express Horse Cave

I was charged $175 damage for blood on the sheets, mattress pad, and duvet. There was NO blood, but there were a few spots of pinkish fluid from seepage on a fresh skin abrasion. The spots were faint and would wash out in the laundry. When I asked for photos to show proof of the damage the GM did not admit to having photos but said they kept the sheets as evidence. I wonder why they didn't wash them to be sure they were damaged. When I pushed him to send me photos, he told me they couldn't share photos. I have filed a dispute with my credit card company. My warning is to be careful and take photos of anything that could be considered damage.

Horrible. Carpet was filthy. No staff. Was told if needed room cleaned would need to go to front desk and ask for it. Air filter in AC was also dirty. Thermostat on wall was taken off with backing still there and had to use old wall unit. For goodness sake. Take the “entire” old thermostat down, and rip the carpet out and tile floor, just for starters. Stayed here a lot last year for work. Won’t stay another night. New management is worse than the old. I was soo disappointed.

We stayed here while visiting Mammoth Cave for our anniversary. The whole place was very clean and everyone we dealt with was wonderful. They had a nice selection for the hot breakfast and kept it stocked up. This will definitely be the place we stay at when we come back.

I am honestly very disappointed with our stay at the Holiday Inn in Horse Cave Kentucky. I booked this hotel in January and called to see if we were able to get connecting rooms. They told us that they could not guarantee connecting rooms, but they would put us in rooms next to each other. They also told me to call back when it got closer to the date to see if the connecting rooms would be available. When we arrived at the hotel, I asked about the connecting rooms and they did not have any available. Then we get our cards and go up to our rooms, and the rooms are not next to each other like they had stated they would be. I then went back down to the front desk to ask about our rooms being closer to each other and they told me that the room assignments had already been made prior and they are sold out for the night. I was upset because my group was not able to stay next to each other, even though when I spoke to someone prior they said they would put us in rooms next to each other. Then on the 3rd day of our trip, I got a phone call from the hotel stating that they were trying to change one of our rooms to a totally different room not even near each other, but they couldn't because our stuff was still in the room. I had to call back 3 times until someone answered the phone. The lady at the front desk stated that someone put in a note for one of our rooms to be changed to a different room without even telling us. This stay was honestly more of a hassle than a relaxing one. One of our rooms was dirty with hair on the bathtub and what looked like a marker scribbled all over the tiles floor in the bathroom. This stay was not what I expected from a Holiday Inn and when I make requests two months in advance that I am promised will be honored, I expect them to be honored. I did not ask for anything extravagant, I simply asked for our rooms to be connecting or next to each other. Additionally, the level of cleanliness was not what I expect from a Holiday inn.

Avoid at all cost. Extremely poorly managed, resulting in a dirty facility, no shampoo or soap in bathroom containers, AC unit that we could not have running as it sounded like a failing jet engine, towels will threads hanging raggedly, a window so dirty you could hardly see out, clock in room with the wrong time, no concern or response from desk clerks.

When arrived the rooms were never cleaned. Elevator broke so cleaning staff quit. They moved us room to room, and every room was still never cleaned. Talked with other guest who dealt with the same problem they tried cleaning their rooms themselves by making their own bedding and received bedding that were Saturated in urine and dirty. Cassey, the general manager said she would take care of it the next day when talking to her the next day, she told me I was a liar and hung up on me. When I called my credit card company who tried to call and dispute it they said she used words that they couldn’t repeat. Very unprofessional and extremely unsanitary.

Website only says the hotel may charge for pets, no where was the $50 mentioned, had we seen it we wouldn't have picked this hotel. Upon our arrival the hotel assistant manager waived the $50 pet fee, since we stayed with them a year ago when they didn't have running water at the time of our stay. My husband thanked her and signed the paper and payed for the room. While we were waiting for the key, another manager came over, demanding that we pay the $50 pet fee, or we can't get our key. We were shocked and asked them to stick with the signed contract. Manager refused to work with us, so we asked her to refund our money. She refused to do so and when we insisted, she called the cops on us. The next day, after numerous phone calls to the company, manager sent a bs "sorry, hope you will stay with us again", never indicated that he was going to refund our money.

They were great. The staff was fantastic ❣️ They were so nice and accommodating. I was there for a funeral. They made the stay so nice. Corey was great❣️The breakfast was so good. I need to use more characters. Not sure what more to stay.

Holiday Inn Express use to be a good place to stay. This is one of the 2 we stayed at while on vacation. The room is far from clean. Dirty floor in bathroom, don’t even get me started on not cleaning any corners in the bathroom for who knows how long. We would have left but after doing cave tours at Mammoth cove we were exhausted. We didn’t even dare shower due to the conditions. Dents and scratches in the wall. I felt itchy just being in the room. Im glad we had Lysol wipes to clean any surfaces we would touch. So disappointed in the chain, time to find another place to stay. It’s too bad because we have points with them but won’t bother ever using. HIE you lose 2 customers. Time to update and deep clean the rooms.
