A truly outstanding hotel, set beautiful grounds, breathtaking interiors and staff dedicated to giving the best experience possible to guests. It was one of those special hotels where everything has been carefully prepared and you never have to ask for anything... everything is already in place.

Lovely one night stay to attend a party held at Hawkstone. The hotel was lavish and all staff were friendly and polite. I’m coeliac which I advised them of beforehand and they had gluten free canapés along with options clearly labelled at the buffet. They even had gluten free bread which they toasted for me at breakfast! Despite some negative reviews online we had room 109 and were really pleasantly surprised. Yes, it’s on the small side, but still has a wardrobe, dressing table, king size bed and plenty of space to manoeuvre! Only comments for improvement - the socket is too far away from the dressing table so you have to dry your hair without a mirror. An extension lead or longer hairdryer wire would be useful. Also, there was no one to assist with our bags when we arrived. Trying to manage the stairs at the entrance and inside the front door along with luggage was cumbersome and help would have been appreciated. Lastly, there was an issue with our shower and the water temperature couldn’t be turned down so was super hot. The room was put out of action after we left as it couldn’t be fixed until the plumber was available. We were given a sizeable discount for the inconvenience which was kind.

We stopped one night to celebrate my mum's 89th Birthday. Had to phone hotel when we got to guest entrance gates as they did not automatically open as we expected. We then found there was an intercom button on a post a short way back from the gates but we hadn't seen it. The hotel is just so beautiful, stunning location in the middle of countryside, peaceful and relaxed. I phoned to book two rooms as, because of my mum's age, we like to stop close to her in case of an emergency. When we booked the lady told us that we would have rooms opposite each other. We didn't, we had rooms on different floors. In the end it wasn't a problem. Also on their website it says "All 37 of our bedrooms offer spectacular views of the rolling countryside to the front, or glorious Hawkstone Gardens to the rear". Mum's room (112) had neither view, she was overlooking a flat roof and the sides of the hotel. Our room (202) did have an amazing view of the countryside. I do think the website needs amending to say "most" of the rooms not "all" as that could be a huge disappointment. Having said all this this is certainly not a negative review, quite the opposite. It is one of the best hotels we have ever stopped in. It is beautifully decorated throughout, both rooms were spacious (classic rooms) with everything needed and very comfy beds and pillows, beautiful bathrooms. Both rooms spotlessly clean (as where all areas of the hotel). The gardens are beautiful and lovely to walk around, the donkeys and llama a lovely surprise and we enjoyed going to say hello to them. Do ask at reception for a map of the grounds as there are a few features you could miss otherwise. Personally I think a map should be put in every bedroom. Also the welcome glass of Prosecco was a lovely touch. The menu for the Saloon Restaurant wasn't to our liking but we were able to sit in there and order off the Hill's Kitchen menu which was perfect for us. Food was excellent as was service. But what really makes this hotel stand apart from others is the amazing staff (every single one of them) that are so friendly, informative and go out of their way to make people welcome. You get a definite sense that they all enjoy working there, know the history of the hotel and are proud of it. Would definitely recommend this hotel as it really does offer a peaceful escape and is easy to get to off the main road (A49).

We were there to celebrate our 57th wedding anniversary and stayed in the Keats suite. Everything about our stay, from welcome to departure, was first class but the standout was the meal. These days we tend to choose hotels first on the menu and that's what happened here. We both had the scallops and then the monkfish because neither was something we were likely to eat at home. Scallops, yes, we have those at home - but not in a nantua sauce because that requires a stock made from boiling down crayfish tails and who's going to do that at home? Bothe dishes were excellent.

We spent last weekend at the wonderful Hawkstone Hall. As soon as you arrived you can’t help being impressed by this stunning mansion surrounded by gorgeous well-kept gardens and a lovely lake. Our room was large and well-furnished in keeping with the style of the building, the room and bathroom were immaculate. Dinner was served in an elegant room with an amazing chandelier and the food was excellent. Breakfast was delicious, so tasty, the orange juice was freshly squeezed, not out of a carton as you get in many hotels nowadays. The staff was very friendly and helpful all through our stay. A perfect 10 out of 10. I definitely recommend this wonderful hotel. We didn’t want to leave and we can’t wait to come back…

This an extraordinary venue which is reminiscent of a former age in terms of standards of service, cleanliness, and staff etiquette. The location is set in beautiful, well tended, and spacious grounds in an idyllic rural setting, complemented by gardens and an ornamental pond. The house is historic and we took the tour which is fascinating and the decor is breathtaking. The hall has been refurbished to the highest standards, in fine taste, with wonderful furnishings, and is spotlessly clean. I have seldom ever witnessed the standards of service to match this venue which reminds me of that which my parents valued, and which is sadly missing today, even in some of the finest hotels. The staff were polite, very well dressed, including white gloves when carrying food! All exhibited a style and courtesy which reflected training to the highest standard. The ambience was added to by music softly playing suited to the historic period of the rooms. I have travelled all over the world and rarely been as impressed as I was visiting this fine venue today, which is the epitome of excellence in hospitality.

Awful check out experience it was like something out of the 1950’s/faulty towers! All bills incorrect. 1 member of staff! Waiting staff were lovely meals were quirky but nice shame they were the same both nights. Cleaning staff also very pleasant and rooms clean. A special few days was spoilt at the end! Very sad! Left a bad taste! Need to up your game.
