Woodland Lodge

On arrival Julie was friendly enough but when things go wrong, which they did she turned nasty. Where do I start, toilets kept backing up, interior was filthy and needs knocking down, constant dog barking, dirt track a disgrace, mould everywhere. Oh and no fire alarm as was broken and no carbon monoxide detector, which is obviously illegal. Absolute rip off, I've attached photos so no one else has to endure the torment of staying.

This is NOT a complaint but observations. . It is in an isolated area and without a SATNAV I doubt we would have found it very easily. Signage (once found in the dark) – directions not clear that Lodges are at END of lane. We called at houses on right which were private residences. Huge potholes on the drive to the lodges No one was in attendance. We rang the number on the notice board Told we had wrong day (although we had an email confirming Tuesday 13th September not Thurs 15th . Fortunately a room was available, although not sure if the room had a double or two singles (as we had booked) beds. I wonder how often management check the property! The accommodation was very basic and clean, light and basically designed for self-catering. There was lots of space for clothes etc. A few things could be improved Fridge/freezer normal size (great), microwave, tea, coffee milk etc. Kettle {travelling} didn’t hold enough water to make two mugs of tea and was thick with scale. I normal sized kettle would be much better. Bedside light broken. Replaced with a small table one. Needs a bigger one. Bed very comfortable but NO mattress or pillow protectors a basic hygiene requirement. BATHROOM: Very clean and fresh looking. However, the towels were very ‘worn’ and thin. There was no extractor fan, shower floor not very clean. No hook on bathroom door Sink: the plug had to be removed by pulling it from the large hole. No way to partially block sink hole. My make up pencil fell down it - never to be seen again! Only stayed one night but seemed a shame there was a lack of ‘personal attention’. The door code and wi-fi code was given over the phone. Overall it suited us for the one night we needed.
