I rarely leave negative reviews, but my experience at Jovia Hotel was beyond disappointing. Here’s why I would never recommend staying here: • Non-functional phone: The phone in our room didn’t work, so every time I needed something, I had to go downstairs, which was incredibly inconvenient. • Only one elevator for 10 floors: Be prepared to wait a long time for the lift during busy periods. • Leaking sink: The bathroom sink leaked all over the countertop and onto the floor, which was a constant nuisance, I was constantly have to dry our bathroom amenities. • Dangerous shower setup: The shower is inside a plastic, wobbly bathtub, making it unsafe to stand. You’re forced to sit in the bath, which is so high that getting in and out is difficult. I felt so unsafe that I ended up using the rooftop shower to wash my hair. • Dirty towels & linens: Towels were dirty, and our bath mat had a large hole in it. Worst of all, they charge you for any marks on the towels. Fellow guests found out the hard way after water leaked everywhere, and were told they’d be fined for using the towels to clean up, towels would not have gotten dirty if the floor was clean to begin with! • Minibar stickers: They have stickers on minibar items to ensure you don’t drink anything and replace it. • Terrible breakfast: The breakfast was consistently cold. The bacon was fatty and steamed, and they only have a small two-slice toaster for everyone. No fresh milk for cereal—just carton milk. On the bright side, the eggs were good and made to order. • Fines for dirty sheets: Nearly every guest we spoke to was fined for dirty towels or sheets. We received a warning letter because of some sweat stains on the bed (they tried to tell us it was from clothes dye). They threatened to charge us $60 for new sheets! I was so anxious that I ended up laying down sarongs and using pool towels, too afraid to sleep on the actual bed. I hardly slept the last night because of the stress wondering if we’d get fined or if i might accidentally leave a mark on something. • Air conditioning issues: You only get one keycard, which controls the air conditioning. It was way too hot to take the card with us when we went out, so we had to constantly ask to be let back into the room. Privacy Invasion: What shocked me the most was when I went downstairs to ask about the alleged stains on the sheets, the staff member went through a whole series of videos recorded inside everyones rooms until she found footage showing the sheets. This is an outrageous invasion of privacy! Knowing that they’re recording things inside your room without any warning or permission is extremely disturbing and unacceptable. The Final Straw: Unfair Fines Almost everyone we met had been fined for towels or sheets. We were lucky to just get a warning, but the constant fear of being charged ruined our stay. As you’ll see from the warning letter I’m attaching to this review, sheets aren’t even changed unless they’re “dirty.” This wh
