We were visiting family in Monheim nearby and were able to drive to them in 15 minutes on a fairly peaceful road near the river. Hitdorf- Leverkusen is a pleasant peaceful area. As an old house, we were expecting that noise would carry along the wooden floors, etc. We asked for a cool and quiet room and were allocated a large 2nd floor en suite bedroom overlooking the enclosed courtyard at the back. Disappointing perhaps not to see the Rhine but we were on the non sunny side….and there was construction work at the yacht marina opposite the guesthouse, so not much loss. We did have some noise from the 3rd floor where (we think) some of the staff were living. In the early morning we also heard some noise from the courtyard “exotic birds” ie budgerigars! The room itself was large and individually furnished. The bathroom was modern and fine, though a slightly wider shower would have given more head space under the sloping roof. A welcome pack included a helpful map of facilities, including restaurants, in the immediate vicinity. This seems to be run as a community by a group of people and includes an art gallery, and daily yoga. Parking is free on the street outside. Breakfast was a fairly standard continental one, with the offer of eggs cooked to order. It would have been pleasant to have been offered real coffee rather than by auto machine.
