Hikks Villa

We stayed here for two night (April 27-29) with the family. The first day, we had to leave early for Whale watching tour, so the chef packed toasted bread and jam for us and I thought this is light because we left early in the morning. Then again today morning, we see that they have 8 slices of toasted bread and jam for breakfast for a family of 5! I asked the chef are there any eggs? The chef said, there are no eggs in the stores. I found that to be a very strange statement, so I walked across the street to the store and asked for eggs. The store was out but advised the eggs are available in a store 500 meters away. I came back and told the chef to go get the eggs from the other store. I said, bring some fruits as well. Every place we have stayed at had nice fruit served for breakfast so far. Apparently the property manager told the chef we cannot have fruits. Sure enough in 10 mins we finished the 8 slices of bread while waiting for eggs to be cooked. When asked for some more bread, the chef had to go to the store to get some bread. This place is being run on a shoestring budget without any care for service. For the amount of money you pay, you are better off staying at any of the other properties where the people are happy to serve you and provide good experience. This property manager does not know what customer service is and don’t know how to cater to westerners. So, stay away from this place.

I’ve been to hikks villa before and my stay was excellent. It was so good that I convinced my friends to book hikks villa for our next couple trip. Mr Sean mohinudeen handled my booking. Our booking was super smooth. Since we’re having scheduled power cuts islandwide, Mr Sean confirmed that they had a generator to run during the power cuts. While we were on our way to hikks, I received a call from mr Sean, requesting us to check in late since there were a few guests who wanted to check out late. He promised us a late checkout at 4pm if we agreed. We agreed and spent nearly 2 hours at the service area trying to pass time so things could be made easy for them. So we checked in and the first thing we saw was that there was no electricity. We asked the staff who was incharge to turn on the generator, to which he replied saying that it been broken from the last few days. Even the previous guest who checked out before us didn’t get to use the generator. So obviously Mr. Sean lied. I immediately spoke to Mr dean regarding this and he promised to fix it “immediately” which he obviously DIDNOT. We travelled all the way from Colombo just to experience the same- drenched in sweat. So while all this was happening, Mr sean very conveniently sent me a message saying that we had to cancel the late checkout and we’d have to checkout by 12pm CZ he had a “new booking” After a long conversation and argument he agreed to let us stay till 2pm which was UNFAIR ANYWAY! If Mr Sean could request us to check in late for his previous guests, I’m sure he could do the same for us. But no, he didn’t. Instead he kept arguing with us. We paid the full amount before checking in including an extra refundable without any hesitation. we didn’t ask for any compensation due to the inconvenience caused, so least that could have been done was being fair. We were not asking for anything extra, we were only asking for what was ours! Not sure if it’s a local/ international scenario here, but either way it was very unfair and very rude of them to do so. I’ve been to hikks villa before, so witnessing such horrible service was shocking. I don’t see myself going to hikks villa once again, nor do I see myself recommending this place to anyone.

Брали виллу на три ночи с друзьями, пятеро. Вилла отличная: три больших комнаты, кухня, гостиная, бассейн, территория с лежаками, пальмы. На вилле есть администратор и шеф-повар. Два вечера шеф-повар готовил нам отличный ужин, предварительно купив продукты, деньги на продукты мы давали. Мы были в двадцатых числах января, хоть и первая линия, но волны очень сильные, не покупаться. Зато для медитации и прогулок - отлично! Минут 15 влево и дойдёшь до небольшого порта с местными лодками, там в бухте волн нет, но от лодок вода не так чиста. Если пройтись влево от виллы, минут через 10 там, конечно, купаются, но океан всё равно с волнами.
