The Green Dragon at Hardraw

Beautiful location. Dog friendly. The room was very smart, nice and warm. Lovely crockery supplied with proper ground coffee with a cafetiere and a tea pot. Bottles of water. Very happy with accommodation. Delicious food, very friendly young man, Kit waiting on in the mornings and booking guests in, an asset to the business. Excellent value, would definitely go back.

Stayed in Wordsworth suite it was absolutely amazing, possibly the largest bathroom I have ever been in, room was so clean and extremely comfortable. Evening in the bar with delicious food and beer. Breakfast was fantastic, next visit will be longer , Thanks to all the staff, so friendly and welcoming

This is a really nice old coaching inn, low beans, real fires, dark and interesting. Very well cooked pub grub (bangers and mash ✔️ cottage pie✔️✔️) great local beer and nice rooms at very reasonable prices. It’s in a great location a short walk from Hardraw Falls. The one area for improvement would be for some of the bar staff to be more welcoming - a smile and a “hello” is so different from a stony face 😀☹️

To have our first ever adventure out to Yorkshire be complimented even further by this place was a total blessing. The scent of an open fire and exemplary food hits us as soon as we open the front doors. I have ran many pubs myself, yet non compare to this. Heart, soul, kind people is just a few of the things that ads to the total tranquility that The Green Dragon offers. Forget the southern almost, forced, approach to hospitality. There is no fake “ hi’ guuuuys!” , no forced politeness all for some BS validation of some corporate noose that seems to be tied round the heart of the every day “customer service rep”. Just honest working, caring folks who will treat you with respect, kindness and compassion. Like most, your manners will be reciprocated if you show the same level of respect!! Within minutes of putting our bags down in the room, we found ourselfs heading down to the bar to be met with the Thursday night live music. This was as authentic as a feel good band gets. Open fires in all areas of the bar was complimented by our steak sharing platter. Of which we enjoyed SO much, we had it again the following night! All incredibly reasonable in price. The chefs, no joke, were nothing short of culinary wizards. They know what the did :D Our room was left nice and warm throughout all hours of the day. So if you or family are taking a nice long trek through the dales, we guarantee you’ll be stoked to find yourself back at the green dragon over anywhere else. They all catered to me and my partners somewhat overly kind nature. And that meant a lot. We have been totally blown away by our trip here. These places are falling by the waistline. So it’s important we support and love our public house roots like the green dragon. Also! THAT WATERFALL WAS AWESOME! Solo, partners or family, the green dragon shreds! ✌🏻

Just back from a very special 2 night stay with my Wife and Black Labrador at the Green Dragon. Our room (No1) was comfortable and clean. The bar was an enjoyable 'typical Yorkshire' homely affair. We had 2 well cooked and tasty English breakfasts and in the evening 2 enjoyable pub food meals. The really nice staff helped make our stay very pleasant.

Last visited this pub 4 years ago and had very good food. This visit was such a disappointment. Limited menu, cold food, disinterested staff. We were hoping for sandwiches but they were not on the menu. Neither were children’s meals so our two young members shared an adult portion. Two of our party of five were served a good 5 minutes before the rest but were given no cutlery so had to sit and watch their already lukewarm food get even colder. I went to find someone but was told they would bring cutlery with the rest of the order! ‘Homemade’ meat pie looked like supermarket brand and was filled with mushy meat. Homemade pate was slimy and inedible. We paid over £70 for the experience. I will not be returning!
