Palatia Village

Booked the Palatia village as a last minute holiday. The apartments are set in beautiful grounds with some lovely sea and Mountain View’s . The apartments, pool and all areas are spotlessly clean , there was a maid service each day. The bed was a good size and the room was spacious with free air con. We had breakfast included which contained a good variety of hot and cold foods as well as juice, water and coffee. We also booked the Greek bbq night at palatia village which we enjoyed. Lots of Greek dancing and some great food. Prices at the bar and cafe are very reasonable. The family who run the place are so welcoming and accommodating. We would definitely return! Good points Clean, comfortable beds, linen and towels. Basic but adequate two ring hob , microwave and fridge for self catering. Clean but small pool however, rarely busy so big enough. Plenty of free sun beds anytime of day. No one reserves them so don’t start! Location not bad , ten minutes walk down the hill to the nearest supermarket but the walk back up is strenuous. Apartments get cleaned nearly every day and linen changed mid stay. Overall You can see the family work hard to provide a clean environment. However, I advise you book the cheapest room with no food and use the place as a base. As somewhere to spend the most of your holiday and eat. Absolutely not. Not so good. Booked a 43 squared metre superior one bed apartment. Was quietly allocated a 30-35 at best squared metre apartment. The owner thinks we don’t know but we’re not stupid but we are too nice to complain. He knows this because he didn’t charge for air con which is standard practice here. I took measurements on an app but the place was small but I needed to prove my suspicions. Therefore, you may not always get what you pay for! Meals. We went half board. Absolutely a waste of money. The dinner is unappetising and who cooks is no cook. There are six hot plates to choose from. One will be potatoes ( one night it was actually powdered potato mash mix) one will be vegetables. Three will be pork eg pork mince, pork kebabs and pork and beef mixed mince meatballs. If you’re lucky, you will get left over chicken from the barbecue night. Don’t get me wrong, the presentation area is clean but there is no care given to what they are serving half board customers. One night was pork and mince with a separate section of spaghetti . The next night was a smaller section of spaghetti with some sauce that looked like a left over sauce from cooking something else. Do they think we are stupid? There is also a salad section. That’s ok. Sweets or deserts is always melon and baklava. So none really. Breakfast is two cereals, fried egg, powdered scrambled egg, boiled egg and a little sausage or bacon. Juice is orange squash. You get the idea. You can buy burgers and pizza from the pool bar which is what they would prefer you do. Do not take any food options here.

This was our 3rd stay and felt just like coming home. The outdoor space is lovely and the rooms/apartments are well equipped. The family are all really welcoming and always ready to help and answer any questions. Happy hour in the open air bar, Greek night and the Sunday roast are all traditions we love and appreciate. The location between the busy harbour front and the small traditional villages further up the hill has been ideal for us as you can choose exactly what you feel like on the day. We walked on average 10 km every day but taxi’s are in abundance and not expensive. There were more groups of young people this year compared to previous, but they were all lovely and well behaved. Overall we loved coming back and will not hesitate to book again if we get the opportunity.

Potentially, this is a lovely place to stay, with pittoresque houses in typical Greek style. We booked an apartment for two weeks, assuming that nightlife is concentrated on the beach (the complex is located in the interior, though at walking distance from the beach). However, the hotel was invaded by dozens of Dutch 'students' (in reality: scum) that just graduated. They only sleep (at best) from 8:00 to 12:00 AM. Until they leave to go to the discotheques, usually at 1:00 or 2:00 at night, they have a pre-party on their terracces. When they return, between 5:00 and 7:00, they just go on until they go to sleep. If the management accepts this kind of clients, they could at least have put them together, away from 'normal' clients. Moreover, they are very brutal, impolite, extremely self confident (not the slightest idea why), at least when in group. Unless you want to party, this hotel (which is in fact more like a luxury campsite - note, however, that in a campsite you are supposed to be silent after 10:00 PM...) is absolutely to avoid.

Really helpful owner, they really want to want to make it comfortable for their guests. Speak english very well Other employees at the bar and cleaning have this same friendlyness. You really feel welcome, very relaxed atmosphere. Good for Family trips with and without kids. Nice and clean appartements!
