SunBay Hotel

Is a 3 star hotel with 4 star prices: - old - multiple bads in a room - low quality food ( me and my 8 year son got digestive problems ) - all services very low - from reception, to cleaning - they do not replace towels, no vanity refill ( I had to buy: shower gel, shampoo, .... The only positive is the water features. ...but they have one life guard for 3 pools ! ( that sometimes also is serving drinks ! )

The rooms are fantastic for a small kids family, the bath tub however has no antislip mat or other and is a serious hazard! The pool facility’s are really good but be ware the main water park is salt water. The resort is pram friendly but I am not convinced due to the gradient it is wheel chair friendly All inclusive, now in July the sun bay’s restaurant is closed, so we all Must eat at the efi beach (I would of checked there reviews had I been told this previously) The food is the same same, cold and uninspiring given the local produce available, even manage daily cold baked beans. The use of the efi restaurant I can only describe as caos! People q’ing at opening time to get in, and at stations to get food! (No superset kids buffet Menai g they have to a in the adults caos Self service ice cream, which unfortunately is only available at meal times what a disappointment for the kids and what with the hygiene and q simply not worth it so us parents buy them ice cream The all inclusive drinks are sold in tiny cups at the water park what I can only describe as a rude man, informed me it was two drinks at a time. Well we are a family of 6, and travelling with grandparents so 8 in total. So that works as 2-4 mins q, 2 drinks 2-4 mins q 2 drinks etc meaning by the time the round is in, the first lot are thirsty and q’ing! So to keep your kids hydrated you end up buying in extras. A contrast is the nice local lad at the star bay pool who is friendly and q’ing is smaller but still served 200ml at a time. Beer, brandy, ouzo, wine or syrup drinks that may or may not be carbonated! The beach bar is payable for drinks and where the kids disco is, but if like our kids the disco should be a highlight this Is not structured or well organised, it’s 15 mins at 21:00 in the pay bar. There is not any comfy sitting areas out with the pay bar, there is a few garden lounge sets but these are cracked and needing replaced so early in the season. The resort and corridors are loud if your travelling with young kids, but not so disturbing that it doesn’t work and we are pool sided which has the open bar, all inclusive is 10-10. Drinks wise. There is an afternoon pizza buffet but this is also at your risk of standing upwards of 10 mins in a q. This is poorly organised and for us the hectic restaurant made it unable for our kids to concentrate on eating and enjoy food leading us to use our money elsewhere in the local area. Some fantastic restaurants and some not so…but very little culture right on the street outside. Here is my biggest negative, the tables in the restaurant are often not cleaned so difficult late in serving times to get a seat, yet the staff are so focused on the guest sitting down that they try and take plates as you lift your folk. However the day one of my 18 month old twins who let’s be honest is not the tidiest eater but seating for twins, a 3 and 5 year are impossible to arrange in the chaotic environment. Hotel: Sunbay and Eri Hotel is one big hotel complex. The hotel is made for families with kids. We booked a double room but we found a room with two single beds which weren't moveable. We changed the room so we had a double bed. The room was in the main building over the reception. Except for the double bed, the new room was awful. The toilet flush was not properly working, the balcony door was damaged and during the night, it was very noisy. The hotel provides a safe for an extra charge. Wifi is only available in two areas (main reception Eri and reception Sunbay), no Wifi in the rooms. The staff at the reception could be friendlier. Food and Drinks: Sunbay's dining room is closed so there is one big dining room for all guests from both hotels. Inside the dining room, it is very loud and kind of chaotic. After a while food was all over the floor. The food is always the same and often it was cold. Drinks are available from vending machines during restaurant opening hours. However, they are all syrupy drinks. After restaurant opening hours you get drinks from the bars (non-alcoholic drinks, beer, wine, brandy, ouzo, warm drinks). Coffee drinks are also available from machines. Iced coffee at the bar is just coffee from the machine diluted with ice cubes or water. Drinks are available until 10 pm, after that there is a bar where you have to pay for it. Beach: The beach of the hotel is nothing special. Sunbeds are standing close together. The beach is bordered by a stone wall, so you can't swim out into the sea. It's a good beach when you have kids because you can stand in the water. There is a beach which might be the one for the Sunbay hotel. But it's very dangerous there. Stones instead of sand, rocks in the water, and heavy waves. Location: The location is perfect. You can easily walk to other hotels with better beaches. Restaurants and Bars are nearby. Close to shopping centers. Entertainment: The entertainment is bad. At the main bar where you have to pay for your drinks, there is music as well. But it's played from YouTube and everyone has access to the computer and can change the songs. It's not professional. All in all, we can't recommend the hotel. There are better hotels nearby with better beaches.
