Hampton Inn Helen

Great location at a good price. Walking distance to all the Octoberfest activities. The room was not very comfortable. Mold around bathtub and maid didn't clean very well.

I am astounded that this is a Hilton hotel. Everything from the parking lot, to the trash littered stairs leading to the lobby, to the lobby itself, and the breakfast area and the room were disgusting. We literally witnessed a staff member walk by piles of trash on the stairs and not pick any of it up. This type of indifference is crazy to me. The front desk person did not even smile or greet us as we walked in. I would never recommend this hotel. To add to it we paid for a Riverview room and it overlooks a dirty parking lot and unkempt pool. You can barely see the river. Stay away! Helen has a bit of a rundown feel anyway. This place tops it off.

Signs are everywhere! And be aware, they always don’t mean what they say. We stayed here with my family for 4 days. While we were there the WiFi never worked and neither did the phones. I was very disappointed with the state of the room and general cleanliness of the hotel. There is literally garbage everywhere. Our bathroom had what looked like black mold or mildew on the ceiling and the jets of the tub. The carpets were stained throughout the hotel and even in our room. There is a sign on the mirror to call for garbage to be taken out and for new towels however, the phone didn’t work to call the front desk so you have to make the trip. When you check in we were told about time for breakfast but you really are on your own figuring out anything else. No info about the pool opening, where to carry pets, or even where to get pool towels. Seems that there are no systems in place to help run things smoothly as the guest is constantly having to run to the service desk to ask for towels or to be able to dump trash. We are on vacation, I shouldn’t have to manage my room being cleaned! I feel that I was working for the hotel. The pool has rules as every pool should. One rule said that you needed to shower before the pool due to the river can cause things to grow in pool. But the said shower didn’t even work. While we were also there, there was a bunch of people (10-12) came into the pool area that were not staying at the hotel. They bypassed the key card we all had. When asked at the front desk was told that it was the owners relatives are having a pool party there. The family also brought cases of glass alcohol bottles into the pool area which glass is not allowed according to the rules. I don’t mind people having fun as owner perks but not at the expense of paying guests. I try to give places the benefit of the doubt but this experience had too much negative. I will come back to Helen, but due to this experience, I won’t stay here again. There is a certain level of standard that there should be. Especially having a name of Hampton and Hilton attached. However, the state of the hotel comes off as inconsistent and neglected.

We had two rooms booked for one overnight quick trip. Our family arrived early evening. We dropped off our bags and took a quick potty break before heading out. To our disgust we found dried urine and hair on the toilet, pink and black mold lining the tubs and shower. Shower door was white from soap scum, shower curtain was pink, black and yellow. The floor boards were lined with thick dust. Carpet floors stained. It was clear that the sheets were changed and the sink was wiped down. The remaining details not attended to. Because we had 2 rooms already that needed to be side-by-side and they both looked identical to their cleanliness, we did not bother to change rooms. It was not a one-off overlooked room. More like the entire floor was overlooked for days. The amount of mold seen does not grow in a day between the hours of 11a check-out and 4pm check-in. I’m assuming this was an understaffed hotel.

The bed was very comfortable. The location is perfect for Helen. My only concerns are that the room could really use some TLC. They obviously have had water damage in that room at some point and it shows in the bathroom really badly. There was definitely some black mold that needed to be cleaned up and the Jets for the tub as well as under the railing and on the ceiling. Some wallpaper needed to be replaced. Some sheetrock definitely needed to be replaced. Other than in the bathroom there was a small amount of stuff that needed to be cleaned under where the air conditioning unit must sit. The rest of the hotel was nice. I do think that the cleaning staff should keep the doors on the main hallway closed so that you can't see into the storage areas in the laundry room. That's not a big deal, just something I thought was not appropriate. Make no mistake though, the room was great. We definitely overpaid but it is peak leaf season and Oktoberfest weekend so it is expected.

The location was perfect. The front desk staff was AMAZING! The room was disgusting. There were: Multiple roaches in the bathroom A very dirty toilet, shower and sink/countertop Dirty floor No trash liners in any of the trash cans - not even a liner in the ice bucket The bedding was not clean as it should be. Especially the comforter and pillows For $667 for two nights, I expect better. For a Hilton property, I definitely expect better. We will never stay here again and I hope they make some changes.

The first room we were given was very beat up and different color paint on areas of the wall. Bed nearest the window not very comfortable with springs coming up. Asked for and moved to a second room. Much better room but still had leaky spigot in bathroom near base and a blind that would not go up all the way. No table on the balcony. Very small room for a resort hotel? TV and internet worked fine. View was nice. Exterior is very nice with a large park like space near the river where the pet locations were. The interior was dark and dreary and dirty. Serious renovation needed. The elevator floor war dirty and remained that way our entire stay. Would not stay here again.

This hotel is old and needs updating. Didn’t use the pool but it looked clean and taken care of. Breakfast was not very good. I have stayed at many Hampton’s and this place is not on par .. The room was not great for the money paid. Hair (not mine) in the bed and blood spots on the pillows. Yuck!! Will not stay again!! Next time I will definitely stay elsewhere!!! Either hire more housekeepers of train them !
