Hotel Indigo Harrisburg – Hershey

This is the second year in a row that I have stayed at Hotel Indigo and for a short 2 night stay the hotel ticks all the boxes. Clean, comfortable, quiet, great location surrounded by places to eat. Very pleasant and efficient staff. Nice size room, with great bed and pillows! Small refrigerator and coffee maker are a plus, as well as hand and body wash, shampoo, conditioner and body lotion. We didn't eat at the hotel, but they did have a breakfast buffet on the weekend.

If you come to this hotel expecting a Holiday Inn Express with some lipstick on it you won’t be disappointed. Service is indifferent, breakfast is akin to the HIE buffet and the rooms are meh. None of this is to say the hotel is bad. It just doesn’t feel like an Indigo.

Sleek, stylish, and contemporary. Situated on a hilltop overlooking the highways and shopping centers, Hotel Indigo outshines the nearby competition - particularly at night when gold accents highlight the building. It was by chance that we were relocated to this hotel after another IHG hotel (Candlewood Suites Harrisburg-Hershey) extended the stay of another group of guests and indicated that we could cancel or move to another property. The hotel is striking from the start. Gold accents on the exterior immediately set the tone for an elevated experience. The lobby and dining areas are large and comfortable, with an outdoor pool and bar area complementing the first floor. The elevators are also striking in their finish and decor - the ride is the same, but these elevators really are impressive in their styling. Our room was reasonably large with ample space for a king size bed, sitting chair, desk chair, and table top desk area that ran the length of the room across the window. The decor was simple yet stylish and (as with every IHG property that we have enjoyed) featured amazing pillows and bed linens. The usual amenities are present (hair dryer, ironing board, luggage valet) and overall it was a very nice stay. Although breakfast is not included with the stay, the onsite restaurant offered a very nice menu. Our Commonwealth platter featured freshly prepared eggs, pancakes, hash brown patties, and the best bacon I have ever eaten. The restaurant staff went out of their way to ensure that every request was met and that everything was to our satisfaction. They are a credit to this location and I would encourage guests to pay the little bit extra and start their day here. Michelle (at the front desk in the morning) also went out of her way to make sure that our stay was satisfactory - thank you. In the end, we are happy that Candlewood management and IHG Guest Relations worked to ensure that we had a room during this very busy September week. Moreover, we are thrilled to have experienced what another brand in the IHG family has to offer. Hotel Indigo won't work for all of our travel plans, but it is great to have another option with IHG - especially one that offers a step up in luxury and stylishness.

Completely ignored when entering by the person at the desk as she was texting on her phone. She quickly did our check-in and went right back to texting whomever seemed to be much more important that their newly arriving customers. The room was horrible to try and get much sleep as the air handling unit turned on and off every one to two minutes and would never regulate the temperature in the room properly. It was either too hot or too cold. Ran out of bathing liquid soap during our stay and shampoo as well as there was only about 1/4 inch in each bottle. Stink bugs in the room above the air handling unit. Upon waking up the next morning the breakfast we paid for was not available as their employee was late getting to work. We were never reimbursed for something we paid for that we could not use - therefore, we were robbed of our hard earned money and their corporation could care less!

Not up to the same quality of other Indigos we’ve stayed at. The building itself was fine, though not in a walkable area like most Indigos. Dirty coffee cups in room, shower door that won’t stay closed, sticky floors, lumpy soft bed, monster thick pillow that was too thick to use as a pillow, loud PTAC heat/ac. We bought breakfast with the room, the manager/server was very good, as was the two egg breakfast.

Currently staying at this hotel when we arrived the TV didn’t work it said searching call front desk called the front desk several times and they said each time they’d be up in 10 minutes it’s been over an hour and still no one has fixed the TV and no one seems to care it doesn’t work and has ruined our stay. Obviously poor customer service. Would not recommend anyone to stay here

The staff here during my 2-night visit were incredibly friendly and helpful throughout. Combined with a great lobby, good outdoor space, and comfortable room, and this was a pretty good stay. The outside space around the pool is very relaxing; at first, being near the parking lot seemed weird, but the beautiful mountain views, the outdoor fireplaces, the patio seating, and the pool chairs all made for a very relaxing place to be. The room was comfortable. Bar soap in the bathroom wasn't provided, but the front desk happily provided some upon request. The only real complaint about the room was the awkward closet door set-up; it was impossible to have the closet door open and then walk to the bed, making for transferring clothes between the dresser and suitcase very awkward. That gripe aside, the room definitely met my needs. Overall, not a bad place to stay.

I travel a lot and while I also like nicer hotels I stayed at 3 excellent Holiday Inns last week and I'm fine with a basic, clean hotel. The problem with Indigo is it tries to be something more, and it's really not. This is my first stay at an Indigo and I guess the idea is they're trying to copy the boutique hotel experience - or at least the aesthetic of one, but def not the experience. It's mostly fine - like it's basic, fairly clean, it's ok. I have two minor complaints and one dealbreaker. In the lobby a woman was complaining someone stole the back of her room's remote and they were trying to find a back that worked. The back of our remote in our room was also missing - no idea what's up with that. There was also a surprising number of weird spiders in our room - we killed a half dozen of them. Whatever, The dealbreaker for me is the strangest complaint I've had about a hotel. Like a lot of hotels today they did away with individual bar and liquid soaps and replaced them with wall fixture dispensers. When I first walked in I went to wash my hands and the soap has a powerful, perfume-like smell - again I think they're going for like a boutique signature scent, but this smells like maybe Dollar General's version of boutique signature scent. If you're not used to strong smells it's overwhelming. The whole bathroom stank from it because I used a pea sized amount to wash my hands. We got in the car and the car stank - and I realized it was coming from my hands. Had to wash them again at the restaurant to scrub the smell off. This is the only soap in the bathroom, so unless you want to smell very powerfully of this perfumed soap you can't use it. Remember I only used a pea sized amount on my hands - I can't imagine washing my whole body in this stuff, it would be suffocating for anyone around me for the next day. Bottom line I had to run out to a pharmacy to buy soap because using theirs wasn't an option. I suppose if you brought your own products this would be a decent stay - just don't expect it to me something more than a pretty basic experience. Honestly I'd just go back to a Holiday Inn, they do a better job with the rooms.
