Hotel Dar Dhiafa

Hard to find, harder to leave. Charming architecture (though rooms are dark and small), very pleasant staff, outstanding food to two bathing pools with comfortable seating- this place is unbeatable. Bring a book, relax… just perfect. Djerbahood itself is disappointing as bland commercial ‘graffiti’ substitutes for the edgy style of independent critical commentary seen worldwide.

Our first experience at the hotel was breakfast. The most important meal of the day. The best items were the pastries and the freshly made omelettes (make sure to ask!), and of course, the coffee. The process to check in and be shown to our rooms was some of the friendliest hospitality I've ever experienced. I genuinely felt like we were honoured guests. When we got a chance to see the rooms, I totally fell in love with the place! The bed was incredibly comfortable, the windows had shutters on them (very rustic), there was a semi-circle seating area with a table (which we didn't have time to utilise unfortunately). But the most interesting feature was the shower! It was a large and deep stone basin, which had room to swing two cats in! I literally had no idea where I was while enjoying the surroundings. We also chose to have our evening meal with drinks here. The mocktails were delicious and inventive. When it came to the menu, there were a lot of options to suit just about anybody I would say. I chose a beef stroganoff and it was probably the best one I've ever tasted. Once again, the service for the restaurant was helpful, friendly and charming.

On this first visit to Djerba, in search of Jewish presence and history, I chose to stay at Erriadh rather than the fancy Zone Touristique (photocopy of many zone touristique). Dar Dhiafa had been renovated in 2000 on a property which was 200 year old. The family who run the establishment is genial and helpful. The rooms are individualistic to say the least and has all the amenities necessary. A breakfast is provided and there is a restaurant in the hotel. It is situated right in the smack of Djerbahood one of the largest outside art shows to be seen anywhere. It is a short taxi ride away from Houmt Souk, the commercial area of the island. I found the atmosphere of the hotel to be very conducive to writing and relaxing. There is a pool but in January it is a bit chilly . The world famous El Ghriba synagogue is within walking distance

On my first visit to Djerba, I was travelling alone and I felt safe and welcome. The front desk had suggestions and a good knowledge of the surrounding area. I had dinner at their restaurant which was excellent, and cooled my feet by one of their two swimming pools. Each room has its own unique cozy style and pristine comfortable beds. I would doubly recommend this hotel.

Bien située au centre du village, pied à terre idéal pour visiter l'île. La demeure est magnifique et très grande. Deux piscines, restaurant et chambres toutes différentes. Personnel serviable et gentil. Néanmoins petit déjeuner trop européen, pas du tout local à part quelques dattes. Carte des vins locaux proposée au restaurant trop courte et peu originale.

Très belle maison d'hôte dans le style traditionnel. Belle chambre avec chauffage par climatisation utile au mois de janvier. Excellent repas au restaurant. Le meilleur de notre séjour ! Je recommande vivement même si je trouve que le prix de la chambre est plus élevée que la moyenne. Le village est très agréable à visiter.
