If you ever wondered what it was like to be in 1980s China, in a very distant, irrelevant city, this is exactly the place to do it. I booked it thinking it can't possible be this bad, and it is that bad. Grime, mould, broken fixtures, dirty floors... truly ecologically fascinating in a biohazard sense. I don't know what compelled me to book it. Miles away from anything closely resembling Hangzhou, closest metro more than a kilometre away, and on a busy Chinese high street. No smoking signs plastered everywhere yet everyone smokes in every corridor. Definitely not representative of what Hangzhou is, do not marr your wonderful journey to this city by cheaping out on this hotel... even if it costs 100 yuan, you couldn't pay me 1000 yuan to stay here.... maybe 10000 would suffice though. Because in the end the bed is probably clean, and they provide clean towels and at least go to the effort of giving you the most basic of amenities to make your journey less torturous. Avoid at all costs! Spend the extra 200 yuan and stay some place worth staying, if you can't spare 200, then go to a reputable youth hostel, even if you aren't young. It is not worth your health, your time or your money. They can say their rooms are in for renovation as much as they like, this hotel needs to be knocked down and rebuilt from the ground up to be worth anyone's time.
