Our room was okay however my husband detected a slight smoke smell so we had to keep the window open. About 1233 am the smoke alarm woke us, my husband turned it off and we didn't hear other alarms so we thought it was a fluke. I tried to call the front desk but there was no dial tone on the room phone, we went back to sleep at that point. About 30 minutes later the alarm went off again and my husband yanked it off the wall while I tried to call the front desk both on the room phone and my cell phone and no answer either place. My husband walked the alarm down to the front desk and all that was said was "okay thank you, I'll let maintenance know." When we checked out in the morning, we complained about the smoke alarm and the front desk said they were sorry and that the phone system had been out of order for several days. We let them know that we should have been apprised at check-in regarding the non-functioning phone system. We told them that a non-functioning communication system is a safety hazard and had there been a true emergency they would have no way of letting their guests know that there were safety issues in the hotel. To which they had mo reaction but for blank stares.
