Homewood Suites by Hilton Hagerstown

Amazing hotel!! We assumed the hotel was brand new because everything was pretty much pristine in both our suite and the public areas. The hotel is actually an extremely well-maintained 20+ years old. The staff was courteous and professional, with several going above and beyond for us - without being asked. Location is good, with many restaurant choices close by, and free Grub Hub delivery if you choose to stay in. We will definitely stay here again if we are in the area.

This hotel is a fairly typical Homewood Suites property. The room was nice and clean; the staff were friendly. The standout feature was the hot breakfast, which included (good) scrambled eggs, pork sausage, carnitas, and a variety of carbs. I wasn't a fan of the TV blaring Fox News, but that is a small point. The hotel is close to a mall and a wide variety of food options — Outback Steakhouse, Chilis, Olive Garden, and many more. This was an unexpected stop on my journey, but pleasant.

After an initial delay with our room we were quite impressed with this Homewood suites. The staff was friendly, accomodating, apologetic about the delay and quick to address it. Breakfast was the typical included fare. It's location is within a wide choice of restaurants for lunch and/or dinner (try Sardis Pollo A La Brasa nearby) We're in this area a coupla times a year and this will be our go-to hotel.

Hats off to the housekeeping lady Esma who cleans our room for remembering us. We stayed in a 1 bedroom king suite for one night. It was a comfortable, clean, quiet hotel. We had to ask for extra towels and blankets at the desk. The front desk person seemed a bit annoyed with the request, but it may have been because she may have been working alone. Also, the room seemed warm in the evening even when we put the ac on 66, but it was cold by the morning. One other thing is that the toilet didn’t always flush properly. We reported this at rhe fromt desk upon checkout. Breakfast was good but the egg station was empty for nearly our whole breakfast time. Food should be constantly replenished for the 3 hours breakfast is open. A 20 minute gap with no eggs isn’t acceptable. Overall, we were happy with our stay, but there are a few things that could be worked on.

The rooms are dated, smells like old cigarette smoke throughout, mold in shower caulk, beds hard as a rock, Wi-Fi was unable for the entire two weeks (couldn’t even load google home page) Staff said sorry internet sucks here and said even though I paid the extra $5 a day for premium it’s not any better, breakfast was cold, everything is baked and dry, staff is mostly unhelpful, pool hours and socials don’t follow with other Homewood hotels. It’s meh with a Hilton name on it.

First I want to say that we are typically big fans of Homewood Suites. Being a Hilton property, they tend to have pretty high standards for comfort and cleanliness, they are usually pet friendly (with a fee), and they offer a free breakfast which is a nice convenience. We stayed at this hotel three years ago and felt it was below average for the brand - at that time we were told they were undergoing a renovation, which accounted for many of the issues we were dissatisfied with. Three years later we stayed here again, and there are still issues, so I don't think the reno had anything to do with it. THE GOOD: The location of this hotel is perfect. It's close to the highway, and restaurants in the area are abundant, both chains (Outback, BJ's Brewhouse, Olive Garden, Chilis) and local places right across the street. There is a big mall across the street with plenty of shopping, and just a block or two away is a large grocery store, a Sam's Club, and lots of fast food. The hotel is pet friendly, in a safe area, and has lots of parking available. There's a pool and an exercise room, and the staff is generally friendly and accommodating. Like all Homewood Suites, there is a full kitchen with a full-size refrigerator, which is convenient for longer stays. They have a free breakfast every morning with a good selection of food to choose from. THE MEH: There's nothing that can be done about the layout of the hotel at this point, but it has a seriously bad layout. If you want to get your steps in for the day, come visit this hotel and stay in the back area. The hallways from the lobby to the back of the hotel are like the hallways in The Shining, they go on and on like dream hallways that get longer and never end, and you expect to see two little blond girls waiting for you at the end of them. The pizza delivery guy was like, "Man, these are long hallways!" This wouldn't be so bad if they had appropriate signage, but they do not. There are no signs indicating where elevators are. You will walk to your death before finding an elevator unless you stumble across it by accident. There are signs pointing toward a block of rooms that, when you follow those signs, lead to exactly one room at the end of a hall. You'll backtrack and have to go down another endless hallway to find the actual block of rooms. It wouldn't take much to invest in a few signs. There are little things that are just annoyances, like the doors of the closet don't stay on the track properly, and there are surprisingly few surfaces to place luggage on. THE BAD: The rooms were not.... terribly clean. I'm not sure if there are big gaps in the tile grout of the shower, or if I'm looking at a bunch of mildew, but there are a lot of black areas that just look gross. The entire length of the TV stand in the living room was full of cobwebs. The kitchen was nice and clean though, so that was a plus. I was given a truly spacious, comfortable and well-stocked room (with one exception -- one tiny pair of shampoo / conditioner bottles, necessitating a trip to the lobby to get more). The hotel is conveniently located off I-81 and offered a decent breakfast and good front desk service. One sour note: While it didn't affect my one-night stay, room cleaning and servicing takes place every four days. At a total price exceeding $200 for a off-the-highway hotel, I would consider that a rather lousy value.

Tournament was very close to the softball complex/fields. Several places to eat in and around the hotel to eat. Wish breakfast started at 630am or earlier because we had to be at the fields by 7am. Wish there was daily maid service as we ran out of soap in the bathroom. it was low when we arrived
