Hotel Buchenland

The hotel looks nice on the inside but it's placed in a very crowded area. The food was ok in the restaurant. Rooms are confy but mine had a stuffy smell. Also in the bathroom there was an unpleasant smell of food with a hint of mold.. The parkinglot is a bit small. Ok for one night, but not longer..

This is a really good base for visiting this area. Gura Humorului is not a particularly exciting place in itself, but it is the largest town in the area of the amazing painted monasteries, which we were keen to visit. The hotel staff were cheerful and helpful, and the facilities comfortable. Whilst not luxurious the rooms were comfortable and well equipped. Breakfast was a tasty buffet with cheese, ham and pastries on offer as well as cereals and some hot options. During our three day stay we ate at the hotel each evening. The menu had plenty of choice and included traditional Romanian dishes as well as standard pasta and pizza offerings. All in all a really enjoyable stay and, by UK standards, extremely good value for money.

Buchenland בGura Hurmorului Suceava We arrived at the Buchenland Hotel in Gura Hurmorului in the Suceava district, nowhere is it written that the hotel is not accessible without an elevator. The hotel took our money 2 weeks before we arrived We arrived with a disabled person without the possibility of cancellation or finding a solution for him. It is appropriate for the hotel to report that it is not accessible and suitable for disabled people. A 4-star hotel without an elevator?? The air conditioner in the room is very old and is in front of one of the people in the room. When we entered the room there was no toilet paper! The clerk didn't believe us and came to see with her own eyes she just didn't believe it! shame!! Don't come close!!

This hotel is supposedly a 4-star hotel, however we found the corner of some of the wall paper getting unglued. The room was too hot even though there was an air-conditioned unit. We could not get it to work, and the front desk told us that it was because it had not been turned on yet, even though the temperature in the room was 25 degrees Celsius. The receptionist then told me to just get on a chair (the only one in the room) and open the skylight window in the ceiling. I did that but was concerned since it had rained earlier and it could rain again while we were out and wet the room, bed, etc. We told this story to our private Romanian guide, who was outraged and contacted management (I should clarify that I am 73 years old). Eventually, the staff came around to the room with a box of remote control for the air-conditioned units, apologising profusely and saying that the management decided to turn on the units and distribute the remote control to guests.

After three stays here I can affirm that this is a really good value hotel. It is pretty new, it has big and clean rooms, with some of them having a balcony. Inside the court there is a private parking. They have a pub in the basement and an awesome restaurant with great food on the ground floor. The staff is helpful and attentive. I totally recommend it.

We stayed here for two nights while on a road trip around Romania. The hotel is centrally located although its position is easier to find with Sat Nav because its precise position is down a narrow street back from the main road that goes through town. There is a good- sized car park at the rear which can also be accessed from the back of the hotel as well as the front. This is a big bonus because parking on the street looks very difficult. We received a good reception on arrival. Rooms are modern and well-appointed, but they are quite small compared to others we experienced during our trip. The beds which are super comfortable get particular praise. Breakfast is a buffet style arrangement. Quite a good selection of food the first day, less so on the second day which we found a little disappointing. We also had dinner here both nights. Food excellent on the first evening with chicken fillet on a bed on polenta and a risotto, second night there was a mix up with the order that wasn’t particularly well handled by the staff. We also had a late lunch in the side annex on our second day that again was good. The portions were generous with all the meals we experienced. Having walked around the area, we think this smaller hotel is probably the best option in town.
