Nice pub and clean but the food was not up to my standards, calamari was slightly overcooked so was a little rubbery and burger was well undercooked. I’m not one to complain so didn’t eat it, staff never asked once if all was ok. Stairway to upstairs rooms smelt very damp and rooms need updating, bathroom is tired.

Just stopped off with our son for drinks and maybe a light bite. Barely any vegan options so ordered chips for each of us. £10.50 for 8 chips each lol. Daylight robbery, avoid at all costs. Expensive dri ks to and set on a dual carriageway. They did not attempt to sort out the issue even though the waitress agreed the amount was disgusting.

First room had clumps of hair on carpet. Clearly not been hoovered. Black mold growing around bath. Shower not enough pressure to have a shower. Dual carriage way right outside window Second room still dirty carpets. Blavk mold still in bathroom. Shower even worse, so bad I had to hand wash. Shower head replaced with one with black mold on face. Dual carriage way again right outside my window Food was OK. Took 45mins to come out. Stood for 25mins waiting to pay. All in all one of the worst hotels I've stayed in in 7years of travelling for work. Will not be back!!!

Very reluctant to leave this bad review as I always feel awful however, its only fare that people get a true reflection of the rooms before they hand over their hard earned money. We have been to the Cross Keys for food before, food was OK 7/10 and the interior of the pub itself is beautiful. If you're wanting somewhere to call for a bite to eat and a drink whilst out walking passing etc then I would recommend. We booked a room as we were going to go for a hike the following morning, we payed £100 for one night without breakfast. Upon arrival we asked for help with the WiFi to be told by reception lady " we dont deal with technical stuff" As soon as I walked into the room I hated it! There was condensation drips all down the paintwork, mould on the ceiling in the room and even worse in the bathroom, bath dirty with mold on the taps and plug, bathroom cupboard dropping to bits, bedding dirty and the whole room and en suite needs a thorough deep clean. The cleaners definitely need to up their game. We left the room and asked at reception for a refund, it was a different woman at reception this time and she was lovely, couldn't have apologised more. She talked us through the refund process as we booked on booking. I do feel for the staff as its the chain who should be investing more and reducing prices until they do! £100 is a joke to ask for those rooms.

Well, we were very disappointed with the room (no 2) we stayed in this weekend. It was so tired it was almost asleep! These are the details: Not many plug sockets. They had plugged in a 4 plug extension to accommodate this! No ventilation or air con. The room was boiling. An electric fan was provided (which had to be plugged into the extension) The bed moved when you sat either side of it. This revealed loads of dust and there was rubbish left under the bed from a previous guest (crisp packet and bottle lid) Then the bathroom Toilet flush handle very loose Toilet roll holders very loose Shower dribbled a pitiful amount of water, hardly enough to rinse soap from hair and body But, more off putting than all of this was the state of the seals around the bath and the walls and ceiling. They were black with mildew/ mould. Not nice at all. We were only there for 2 nights and decided to put up with it (we did only take 1 shower each as couldn't face another) Greene King - come on. These rooms need to be modernised. People pay a lot of money now and expect functional and clean rooms at the very least. I accept that you are budget accommodation but that should not mean compromising in any area. Sadly, we would think twice about staying in other GK accommodation based on this experience. On a positive note, the breakfast was lovely and the staff were friendly.

We’ll done in these challenging difficult times. Rooms were warm and clean. Very pleasant and helpful staff. The food and drinks were great quality with good portions… The waiter even put an extra log on the fire for extra ambience! Thank you

The room was clean and had everything I needed and more. I was pleased there was a bath, too. Comfy, massive bed! I ate in the hotel and was very impressed with the quality of the food, and the friendly service. The location is very convenient for Guisborough or the coast. Easy to find as it’s on a ring road. Good views across to Rosebery Topping, and open countryside and woodland behind, where you can walk.

Staff were excellent, they were attentive and delightful. Our evening meal was poor, but breakfast the following morning was good. Our room was clean enough but tired and in need of maintenance. It had obviously had a major roof leak at some point which hasn't been completely dealt with. The bathroom needed attention.

Visited the restaurant when passing at lunch time. Had a meal and drink, contemporary style restaurant, very clean and comfortable. The meals were very good, excellent chips and pies, and the service, Leanne, was friendly and prompt. Overall a very enjoyable visit and we will happily return.
