Hotel Caprice is a traditional Swiss, family-run hotel. It’s in a great location, close to (and up a short, steep hill from) the Grindewald Railway Station. We had no problems with noise. The husband and wife team, and their staff, are friendly and helpful. We had a deluxe mountain-view double room, which had plenty of space, an excellent bathroom and a verandah with a great view of the mountains. It was hot weather when we visited, so the room was uncomfortably warm at night, but the owners lent us a fan and that did the trick. The pillows took a bit of getting used to as well. They were big and thin and needed to be doubled over for a good height. The breakfast room on the 1st Floor was lovely and had a great view. The breakfast was good too. With the Aussie Dollar exchange rate poor with Swiss Francs, the value of the tariff wasn’t too-good though. It worked out to be $600+ a night. Yes, the convenience and comfort factor would be better if the rooms had aircon, a small fridge and tea & coffee making facilities, but the listing clearly shows the hotel rooms do not have these, so I don’t understand why people complain about it in some reviews. The only glitch we had was that we had arranged with the owners to pick us up from the station with our luggage but that didn’t eventuate, so we had to drag our cases up the steep hill to the hotel in 28C degree heat. It wasn’t fun, but we forgave them :)
