Pretty disappointing overall for us. The hotel is clean and nice - perfectly fine for most travelers, I assume. Our issues were specific to our family, but they could impact other travelers with kids, so I will document them here. We booked this as a stopover on our way up to the U.P. Our prior visit was great - the kids loved the water slide and the suite was very comfortable for our family. Early in the day, we were informed that our suite was not available any longer and that we'd be put into a regular room. That's fine, but less than ideal for a good night's sleep after a long day of driving. I'm sure there was a good reason for the suite not being available - and I assume it was beyond the hotel's control. 10,000 points were offered - but would have preferred breakfast (not offered). Probably more disappointing was that the slide was not open. I know this seems trivial, but our kids were super excited about it all day - it was the main reason we were staying at this hotel. So, to be informed that the slide is only open on weekends was disappointing to say the least - especially since we only found out about it after we waited for the pool to open and finally asked about why the slide was locked off. Again, I know this seems like a small thing - but after the loss of the suite and the build up of "the slide" - and waiting a few extra hours to get into the pool - it was pretty disappointing. If the slide not being open is advertised on the booking site, we certainly didn't see it, and the desk didn't mention it - even as we were asking about when the pool opened, etc. BTW, the reason it wasn't open was because of no lifeguard available. I'm not sure why one is needed for a small indoor slide, but I'm sure there is a good (e.g., legal) reason for it. OK, enough slide talk. Overall, the hotel is "fine" - clean, efficient, etc. But these two things were disappointing for us.
