We spent almost 3 weeks at Banyan. The ocean breeze, the view, the peaceful atmosphere is so relaxing. For fun, we took a guided boat tour to L’Ile d’Ambre. We also rented a driver and van for 10 to take us to Valley of Ferney in the south. We walked to the beach at high tide and enjoyed laps in the pool. One of the best part of our stay is the personal attention received from Biana, our housekeeper, also a talented chef. Biana prepared many typical Mauritian dishes for us, including curry, faratas, rotis, chutneys, fried rice, octopus, squid, fried fish, fish soup, bread pudding, etc. Each day, we would discuss dinner and Biana would prepare the main dishes and throw in some surprise appetizers and side dishes. We really did not have to eat out at all. One day, Josian the caretaker picked some coconuts for us and we had fresh coconut water. The cream was used by Biana to make a delicious dessert! We shopped at Grand Baie or Goodlands, only 15 minutes away for necessities. There is adequate security with a gated community and 24/7 watchman, cameras around the property and Expandas on the doors. Why stay in a resort when you can experience the real Mauritius at Banyan at a fraction of the cost?
