I spent 3 nights at the Springhill Suites, Grand Forks ND this week. Marriott options in Grand Forks are limited to the Springhill Suites and a Fairfield Inn. I stayed at this Springhill Suites 6 years ago and it's exactly as I remembered. I booked a King room on a AAA rate for this stay, as it was the best rate. I consistently find AAA has the best rates - AAA is well worth the $75 annual fee for the Marriott savings alone. The room was typical Springhill with the split bathroom - not like the newer/remodeled hotels that have a typical bathroom layout with the toilet, shower and sink in the same space. I've never been a fan of the Springhill Suites brand, but I also have no complaints or negatives about this hotel and stay. The room is well sized, offering a good sized desk, clean fridge and microwave, a trundle bed couch, good sized desk, a newer 50" TV, comfortable bed and a decent shower. The hotel has a small gym with 2 treadmills, 2 ellipticals, some weights, cowbells, mats and rollers. Not a big gym, but still useful. It was actually well used during my stay. I don't have any photos because of that. There is also an indoor pool and hot tub that were in good condition - I made use of the gym, pool and hot tub during my stay. Breakfast was a standard offering for this brand segment and was well done. The hot plate offerings varied each morning, were well stocked/maintained and better than some lounge offerings in some full service Marriott's I've stayed at. The buffet included a juice station, a good oatmeal hot station, yogurts and such, fresh fruit, waffle station, breads and UDI's gluten free muffins. Coffee and Tea were only available during breakfast hours, but well maintained. I did not have housekeeping during my stay - I think they are on an every 3 day schedule, but I was able to get a fresh set of towels from housekeeping when I asked. My experience with all the staff was great. In talking with the front desk upon check out, I learned that the hotel was built in 2009. The hotel does not feel or look like it's 15 years old. Overall a very good stay in Grand Forks.
