"One of the best places in Lome in my book. Calm, clean, excellent service and not too far from the city. A hotel i recommend. If you need a place to relax with family, this is it and the cuisine is very nice too as they have a healthy breakfast. The view is also soothing as we have a splendid capture of the sea."

"Togoles y expatriados, vean Madiba! Yo estaba escéptico al reservar, debido a las notas más bien medias en los sitios de reserva en línea. Como Suiza, estoy muy a caballo sobre la limpieza, la calidad del servicio y la belleza del sitio. Or ici tout est parfait, à part l'inévitable enrochement qui gasche un peu la vue du client qui choisit les chaises longues au soleil, près du bord de la plateforme. Pero a diferencia de la mayoría de los establecimientos de Baguida, aquí accedes de ambos lados a bellas playas que ofrecen una baño muy segura (para buenos navires, por supuesto) y una balada ir-retorno de una hora al Este. Las habitaciones son muy agradables (elige la vista alta del mar a poco más caro), personal adorable y instalaciones inofensivas, edificios casi nuevos como la gran piscina, los dos bares-restaurante y las paletas en la playa. Cerise en la torta, y esto probablemente cambiará la nota de los visitantes futuros como yo, la restauración ha estado en la dirección de Guillaume, el hijo de los propietarios, durante unas semanas, muy dinámica, amable y competente, que dejó la tres estrellas de Anne-Sophie Pic en Valencia, uno de los mejores restaurantes de Francia, para tomar el flameo. Toma las cosas en mano y la calidad de la cocina es de muy bueno nivel para un precio franco y moderado. Y el servicio es eficaz y bastante rápido. Ideal para un fin de semana en familia. Solo punto negativo, la pente excesiva del toboggan de la place de jeu pour les enfants (il faut mettre un parachute mais j'ai passé la instruction d'ajouter un peu de sable sous l'engin 😊). Last point, l’entrée à la journée est gratuite, sous condition de consommation."

Effective Wi-Fi, fairly decent TV, rooms at 22,000 without Canal+, few channels available except France24 and TV5Monde. Canal+ available in rooms at 27,000. Huge breakfast. Quiet and peaceful night. Legal European couples welcome."

"Marcelo is decent choice for those wishing to spend a few days on Togo's coast. I have mixed feelings about this area on the edge of Lome. The shoreline is either fancy hotels or slums and serious poverty. Reception staff were friendly and welcoming. My two floor suite felt luxurious to me, who doesn't normally stay in places like this. The wooden floor wasn't perfect. Sharp to stand on in places where it was uneven. Fixtures in the bathroom not that well maintained. Despite being seemingly nearly empty, they placed me in a suite which faced outwards, outside of the hotel grounds. I would have preferred to face inwards but once I was there, I couldn't be bothered to ask to move. The swimming pool is massive and was wonderful to have access to in the heat as it was. Would have been nice if they'd placed a few tables there too, instead of just sunbeds. The umbrellas weren't well maintained and were beginning to fall apart in places. The included breakfast in the restaurant was great. Very varied buffet, options to suit many tastes, good coffee. The rest of the food served in the restaurant certainly did not live up to the prices, which are astronomical for Togo. Unfortunately, any meal in this area is a battle between you and the flies. I found this very uncomfortable. A few flies are to be expected in a hot country, but this was like a plague. It was nowhere near this bad anywhere else I've visited Benin, Togo and Ghana. I can only guess that it is this way due to the squalid living conditions in the area around. One day I had a pizza and I was basically stuffing it into my mouth with one hand whilst constantly waving my hand over the remainder. All drinks have to be covered with coasters. The little cove they've created for swimming is a nice idea. The sewage (or whatever it was floating in the cove at hightide did not make it tempting to swim. So, if you want a hotel of reasonable quality in this area then you could do worse than Marcelo. But I would suggest that there are many better places for a beach holiday."
