Gold Beach Inn

I tried booking a midweek at the Gold Beach Inn because they're situated near one of our favorite restaurants on the coast and had all the amenities we were looking for. But reading their reviews was a cause for some trepidation with respect to their business practices and the condition of their rooms and amenities. So I emailed ahead of time to request assurances that our room would be clean and all of their listed amenities would be available and functional. I received no response to either my original message or the follow up I sent the next day. More than a huge red flag, this tells me that they are knowingly publishing rates, conditions and amenities that they are incapable of providing. I contacted several other properties, all of whom had no problem assuring me that their advertised amenities would be available and functional as advertised. So I went ahead and booked one of them. I would strongly encourage others to avoid this property — or any property — who cannot at least guarantee that the amenities they advertise will actually be available when you check in.

Needed to stay a night. Booked online looking for cheap. Wasn't expecting much with the low-mid reviews. Turns out it's a hidden gem imo. Had a cheap room, no view but the room was dead quiet, the mattress was solid and perfect and the water pressure in the shower was really awesome. Plus... in the morning I wandered to the lobby and they had a really great breakfast bar with scrambled eggs and potatoes and plenty of juices and bagels, etc.. Very good. Staff is low key, friendly and humble. They said they're renovating a bit at a time. Will stay there again and get one of the fancy rooms overlooking the ocean.

This place was friendly and flexible when we changed our reservation at the last minute, and the room was large and clean and pet-friendly. There were some issues: there was no light in the back part of the room (where the dresser and coat rack were), there were no microwaveable coffee mugs among the things in the kitchenette, and the vending machines had been removed from the "Ice/Vending" areas in the parking lot. The included breakfast is what you'd expect from a two-star hotel. The full tub/shower was a plus. All in all, a clean, functional place to stay, but at nearly $190 for one night (including all taxes and fees, etc.), a little pricey.

The view is stunning. That about it it all goes down hill after that. The house should be condemned and not rented. There is black mold, lots of water damage in the bathroom and walls. Then there is lots of white streaks on the walls that looks like someone tried to wash the walls and took the pain down to the dry wall or it’s primer either way very tacky. The kitchen counters are warped and falling apart. Windows don’t open the 2 that do don’t wirk with the crank mechanism to open and close it. There is electrical tape all over one to try to hold it close. The carpet is so stained from dog pee that they have haphazard carpets trying to cover the biggest areas. These are major trip hazards. There are holes in the bathroom linoleum, and the carpet is coming up in another area. There are tons of marks on the walls and gouges. The lock box is broken and someone had locked the bottom lock. We called the company we rented this from they told us the code to the lock box but since it was broken we had to find a stick that would reset the box and let us use the code to get in. The outside of the house is not great either but you get the idea… Clearly the owner does not care about this property. We were informed he has been made aware of these issues but does not do anything about them. It’s a health hazard and should be taken off the market ASAP.

Clean rooms, tv reception wasnt the best. Great view with easy walk to beach. We stayed on first floor, I would choose 2nd floor, higher up and has private balcony. Staff was very friendly. Definitely stay there again.

We made a good decision booking at Gold Beach Inn. I expect mom & pops coastal motels to be a little dodgy. But our newly remodeled room was lovely. Clean, comfortable, safe. Fridge and microwave in room. I booked on their online site and got in on a 30% off sale. So our midweek stay cost less than a tank of gas. Plus, they have breakfast with lots of hot and cold options. Friendly, competent front desk staff and easy access to wifi, ice, etc. we will be back!

This place is terrific! Oceanfront room with a balcony at a low rate. Room was huge with a very comfortable bed and 2 comfy chairs to relax in. Balcony had 2 nice patio chairs and a small table to set our drinks. Hot breakfast had an adequate selection of foods. Staff are amazing! So friendly and helpful. We were so impressed and would absolutely stay here again.

Would never stay here again. Beware of listed photos they do not match the rooms. Got placed in an old junky room with no ocean view. Windows looked into hallway and anyone could look directly into our room. It was hot and with windows open we could hear and see everyone walking down the hall. Absolutely no privacy. Bathroom door lock was broken and toilet didn’t flush properly.

​ Don't go here - unless you want to be severely disappointed. I responded to Gold Beach's request for a review after our recent stay, with a concern about the property and that I wanted to address directly with the general manager. I stated that if I did not hear from him, I would share my concerns on a review site. I have not heard from the general manager so I have no choice but to share my comments on review sites. It is evident that there is no concern from management for this property. Our room was an oasis" in a sea of dirty and obviously dilapidated buildings, including ours. The sign says "renovated" - which is not true as the majority of what I saw with dilapidated and in need of serious repair. The website looks professional and inviting but it DOES NOT MATCH THE REALITY OF THE PROPERTY. This is truly a misrepresentation. If you say "renovated" on your sign, you need to renovate the reception area that is a person's first impression and right now it is an outdated, dirty and dinghy looking place. The breakfast room is equally dated and dinghy and not a place where you want to even eat. If renovation is in process, say "renovating". We were in a room with an ocean view on first floor and directly off the huge asphalt parking lot. The outdoor carpet in front of our door extending to the end is filthy, green color with holes from wear. This is the first impression when you enter the room. It is downright gross. It appeared that they replaced some of the bad carpet but stopped short of our door for about a 8 foot section. Even though this unit had been updated, it is already going downhill with large dirty spots on the carpet, scuffs and chips on the wall paint, dirty box springs skirt and a clogged drain in the tub where we were standing in inches of water. On the way to the ocean walk, there is a "broken" picnic table just sitting there - why not remove it rather than have broken things visible? Hot tub "closed for maintenance" is not a good sign with the rest of the neglect of this property but from other reviews, this has been closed for maintenance for years!!!. Great view from the property and quick access to water. I can' believe that I did not more thoroughly read the reviews on this property. If it hadn't been for the renovated unit itself, I would not have stayed. It's really disappointing that this place is allowed to stay in business and sucker people in with their great website. The staff at the office were friendly.
