The Old Pheasant Hotel

The Old Pheasant made the ideal base for our long weekend exploring the area around Rutland Water. Our room was clean, comfortable, well equipped, and remarkably quiet considering we were so near a main road. We wanted to try some of the restaurants in Oakham, so we only had one evening meal in the Old Pheasant, but the food was excellent. Bernard and his whole team made us feel very welcome, and we’d be very happy to stay there again.

We had an excellent stay at the Old Pheasant. Bernard and his team were incredibly welcoming and efficient. We ate in the restaurant in the evening and the food was excellent. First time visitor to the area which is beautiful. We shall be returning.

We have just had a four-night stay at The Old Pheasant Glaston, We were greeted by Bernard, the hotel owner, a very friendly and accommodating gentleman, who remained so during our visit, he was always talking to and looking after his guests. All staff are very friendly and helpful. The room was very comfortable with a queen size bed which was a great surprise. It was cleaned and laundry changed on a daily basis. We took advantage of the optional continental style breakfast on offer, which turned out to be very comprehensive and great value. The Old Pheasant has its own menu, but also offers a set deal every night, which includes a main course and a drink. Great value, we ate in every night. The meals were well cooked and good portions. A great base to discover the local area. Would we stay there again, absolutely! Would we recommend The Old Pheasant to anyone else definitely! Thank you, Bernard and your team, for a great stay.

A great find, deep in the beautiful countryside of central England. I loved everything about the place, the 16th century pub/restaurant and the more recent accommodation adjoining it, all tastefully presented. Bedroom had a restful feeling and gave an excellent night's sleep. What really impressed me was the quality of the home-made food and the way it was cooked. The staff know how to look after guests and make you welcome. This is a place that is special.

Just returned from 2 nights at The Old Pheasant Hotel. This hotel has a lovely ambiance throughout. The staff are friendly and attentive especially Bernard the owner. The rooms are spacious, clean, modern and well equipped. We ate in the restaurant both nights and the food was delicious and fairly priced. I would recommend The Old Pheasant and hopefully we will return when next in the area. Thank you Bernard and the team for a welcoming, comfortable and enjoyable stay.

Had a wonderful Father’s Day lunch here today! The food was wonderful and the host and staff were very friendly, making sure that we were looked after during our time there. Would absolutely recommend this restaurant with its delightful atmosphere.
