This was our second time staying at The Vicarage within a couple of months, and I can't recommend it enough. There are not many good accommodation options in Geraldine, but The Vicarage is totally five star. The house has been beautifully renovated. The rooms are warm, the beds are about the most comfortable I've found in any hotel, and everything has been well thought out and designed for maximum convenience. Obviously it doesn't have any in-house bar or restaurant facilities, but there's plenty of tea and coffee making stuff available, and everything you need to feed yourself. And of course the wonderful Barker's restaurant is right next door for great breakfast and lunch.

My wife and I found The Vicarage to be the single best and most well-appointed BnB we have ever stayed in! Whilst the price was certainly at the high end, we were happy to pay a bit above the norm for such first class accommodation, where it seems everything has been thought of. Congratulations to Michael and Brigitte and the whole team for establishing a real asset for Geraldine.

what a wonderful place. Highly recommend it was so clean and tidy and quiet. Just in the centre of town but when you were in your room it was so peaceful and calm. We pre-ordered a cheese platter which is a lovely touch so we didn't have to go looking for a meal at night as I'm on crutches. Lovely balcony outside our room and the next morning we popped over to the barkers restaurant and tasting room to get breakfast and some goodies to take home.

We stayed here in en route from the West coast to Mt Cooke and this stay couldn’t have been more perfect . This is a fabulous place to stay . The hosts are wonderful and have thought of every detail . We arrived late and check-in was a breeze. We ordered food for dinner and breakfast from Barker‘s, which was ready in our room. We were able to have a lovely picnic outside and the food was delicious! Upon arrival I took the best shower, the floors are heated, and we even had a heated towel!! I would go out of your way to stay here !!!

Charming boutique hotel with rich history. Room is beautiful, very clean, comfortable and with good heating. Love the special touches eg a complementary bottle of wine, Linden leaves hand & body lotion, a book about the rebuilding of the Vicarage & a voucher for Barkers. Highly recommend! Location is excellent with wonderful shops & cafes around.

We stayed one night in this wonderful bijou hotel. A historic house beautifully converted to 6 rooms. Very comfortable and in a beautiful little friendly small town. Can highly recommend it. There was a 2 day festival when we arrived with hundreds of interesting stalls just down the road.

This is our sixth visit of two or more days, the last two for our annual anniversary. The setting, quality of accommodation, 'extras' and ambience is unsurpassed in our opinion, to the extent we no longer consider going anywhere else in NZ. Having a cafe on the doorstep and all other services within a couple of hundred meters, makes The Vicarage the perfect destination for a totally de-stressing, pampered stay. Housekeeping staff are so courteous and helpful, couldn't wish for better. Debbie, one of the Barkers cafe duty managers, is an absolute gem! Her attention to customers (before they have even thought of it) and attention to detail is second to none - what a great find she is! :-)) Whether driving from Nelson or ChCh, the distance is immaterial to us as we anticipate the consistently exceptional venue that is The Vicarage. Looking forward to our 7th.

A welcome retreat after a long drive. The Vicarage is a beautifully restored older building and is welcoming and very comfortable. - there was even a complimentary bottle of excellent wine. Our night there was very special. The area is historic and, for a small town, there is much to offer.

Beautiful, quality details and special touches. Super comfy bed. Loved the shared lounges, capture of history and met some lovely travellers. Breakfast next door at Barkers cafe delicious Will definitely be back. Geraldine treasure!!
