«It’s my second stay at Spices, a restored heritage shophouse hotel with nine rooms. With complimentary coffee and tea as well as a library, the two lounge areas are a peaceful place to relax and unwind after a day of gallivanting, exploring, and eating your way through Georgetown’s bustling markets. It’s in an ideal central location while also being down a quiet street, so there’s not much noise, even if your room is street side. «Although the hotel is new, the room is quite cramped. My 20-inch luggage doesn’t fit on the floor, so I had to unpack it on the bed. Upon entering, I noticed a foul odor, and most disturbingly, the bedding reeked of strong body odor. This is really disappointing.»

«Hotel situado a una distancia de paseo a la Plaza Gurney, el complejo comercial y los restaurantes. y se puede ver que hay un gran templo de Siam y Myanmar en el lado de la carretera. Las únicas cosas malas para este hotel son las que se encuentran en el opuesto tienen un templo musulmano que mañana muy ruidoso y la habitación puede oír vehículos, ruidoso en la carretera son un poco perturbador mientras duerme.»

UUsuario invitadoFive-star facilities, five-star front desk service, but one-star doorman service. I leave this review for all non-white potential guests: There's evident racial discrimination in the concierge service here. The doormen exclusively assist white guests by greeting them, opening car doors, and handling luggage. My family felt uncomfortable about it, so I can no longer ignore their experience. While the hotel itself is beautiful and all the rest staffs are friendly and professional, I strongly recommend standardizing your SOP or replacing the door team.
British colonialism ended decades ago.

Intenté cancelar esta reserva después de haberla reservado. Porque he leído un comentario en Google que dice que este hotel no tiene su propio restaurante. pero entonces ya es demasiado tarde. El hotel rechazó mi solicitud de cancelación.
Vine aquí por trabajo. Es una molestia para mí ir a buscar algo de comida antes de ir a trabajar. Es realmente angustioso.
- A veces, el baño olía mal debido al humo del cigarrillo que salía del respiradero del inodoro. Quizás debido a su mal funcionamiento o algo así. Porque el ventilador supone aspirar los olores del inodoro, no aspirar el olor de otras habitaciones. 😓😓 y obviamente alguien en la otra habitación estaba fumando.
Y antes de salir, me preguntaron varias veces si fumo en la habitación. Porque cobrarán una multa de RM500.
No soy fumador y soy alérgico al humo del cigarrillo. Estornudo sin parar. Realmente me molesta.

It's a great gesture for me as I am going through chemo therapy, the hygiene issue is top priority for me. I was truly appreciative to have a quiet and peaceful environment to have all my meals in the hotel.
St. Giles has the most comfortable linens that you can find. I slept well and hope to return again in very near future.

MMr. MisanthropicLa experiencia del check-in fue desagradable y la recepcionista fue brusca en su manera. Ella tomó mi tarjeta de crédito para que pagara el impuesto turístico y cuando su máquina rechazó mi tarjeta dos veces, su actitud fue que mi tarjeta / asumió que la falta de crédito era la culpa. De hecho, cuando regresé a la mañana siguiente para intentarlo nuevamente, aún así fue rechazado (sin embargo, funcionó bien hasta el día de hoy, y siempre lo ha hecho), fue su máquina la que tuvo la culpa, tres veces. La actitud general de ambos recepcionistas fue fría y poco acogedora. La experiencia de salida fue similar. Frío y hostil. La habitación era muy bonita (piso 10). Tuve que pedir esto dos veces o me hubieran colocado en el 3.º o 6.º. Las amas de casa fueron excelentes. Había un fuerte olor a orina en la habitación los últimos días de nuestra estancia de 3 semanas, pero eso no fue culpa del personal de limpieza. Es el ”sistema” del hotel ya que el olor desaparece al cabo de unas horas. La piscina de la azotea era preciosa con una gran vista. Eric, el chico de seguridad en el vestíbulo de abajo, fue encantador y muy servicial. En general, fue una buena estadía, aparte de las chicas de la recepción que, supongo, no se preocuparon por mí, ya que claramente no soy rica. Es una pena porque soy muy amigable y cortés en mis modales.

RRlmeThe hotel is modern and very pretty! Love the decoration and design. It’s clean, the bed is comfortable (not the pillow) and I love the shower water pressure and the idea of having water dispenser for sustainability drive.
A few things that disappointed a little:
1. Was assigned to room 212 which is located close to lift, I barely slept on the first night. One group of guests walked pass ard 12:50am and were talking and laughing so loudly, followed by the loud door closing sound (no soft closing). Then another group came back around 1:45am and I woke up because of the loud door opening and closing sound (3 times)…the aircon was centralised and quite cold, tried adjusting to higher temperature with lower volume but the control parcel is useless. The pillow was not comfortable also, the cotton was not even, too high for my liking. Morning 8:45am the house keeping person tried accessing the store room and entered the wrong PIN code for a few times and the beeping sound was non stop and I woke up again :(
2. Thankfully we were changed to another room at level 3, I managed to sleep better for the 2nd and 3rd night. But when we came back on Day 3, I wanted to watch TV but the remote control was missing. We called the front desk for a few times but no answer around 11pm, had to go down and request for the remote control to be delivered to my room. Guess what, we waited for 15 mins but no one came, called again and finally the house keeping staff showed up after 5 mins. Then when we opened the door, he asked us multiple times that why it’s missing and even requested us to check drawers etc. we searched everywhere before we called, only being accused after waiting for 20 mins. Then waited another 5 mins for him to get a new one and came back. So speechless…
3. I like the free coffee service that they offer, however there’s no food options and no room service. Most of the nearby shops close early and it’s quite hard to find for food at night if you are hungry
4. Not all the staffs are very friendly, the lady receptionist that we encountered was not super friendly and helpful. She told me that when we came down, the replacement room would be ready but it’s not, I waited for another 5 mins standing there until she got everything sorted out. Felt that she was unwilling to help

UUsuario invitadoLa ubicación del hotel está bien. Abajo hay un puesto de comida. Tomar un taxi GRAB para ir a otras atracciones es muy rápido y conveniente.
Lo malo es que todavía se puede oír cantar a las 9 de la noche. A veces también se oye el sonido de cánticos procedentes de la mezquita. No es muy ruidoso, se oye levemente.
Las instalaciones del hotel son normales.

TTomi Qing RongHotel is quite dated and the facilites are pretty old, not exactly very clean either. Need to request for room make-up, otherwise they will take their time to do it (was out for 8 hours and when I got back at 4pm, it was still not done).
Accessible location with a bus terminal and a few malls nearby.
One complaint about the pool: the water was really dirty with clumps of hair in it and the water was so salty. There were also adults and children swimming/playing in the pool with their clothes on, but the staff didn't say anything at all.

UUsuario anónimoReally love how clean the hotel and the room is. Furnitures in the bed room and bathroom area is so well maintained and super clean as if newly open. The bed is comfy with good aircon temperature. The water and drainage system works perfectly. The breakfast is good and the staff during the breakfast is very keen to help do the waffle.
The location is also great. I can walk out and face cute cafes and bars across the street. Around the block is the area full of historical buildings. The hotel is walkable to popular street like Armenian street, promenade and center of George town.
The only comment is it would be very good to have small sofa in the room next to the bed. With the non standard room type with more usable space, it’s better to add something extra to the room.
But overall is very good stay!

IIsabelleyishaThe hotel location is right on the hot spot of Georgetown. But it goes with noise at night until 2am. So if you plan to be partying at night it's ideal and walking distance to Love Lane and all Georgetown touristic areas.
But if you wish to sleep and relax after midnight definitely not the right hotel for you.
The room was OK in terms of size but a lot of mosquitoes coming from the bathroom drain. I've killed at least 50 of them thanks to a mosquito raquet 🤣 The tip is to close the bathroom curtains so they don't get in the bedroom.
Humidity in the room had the paint peeling off.
For the price I don't think the room quality was enough. Specially for the humidity and mosquitoes combination.
The breakfast menu was not available but you can easily go down the street and eat at ease or order with the application grab. No bar available in the hotel.
The shared areas are clean. Loved that you have to take off your shoes at the entrance.
There are stairs to get into the hotel but they help you with your luggage. The first time you arrive you need to ring the bell for them to come open for you. Small door not easy to spot at first. I suggest to the hotel to stick the name directly on the door at eye level and big to avoid confusion. I've uploaded a picture of the door for you to not get lost.
After you check in they will give you the door code so easy for you to get by.
Staff has been helpful when asked but not interacting or giving you suggestion or asking you how things are going.
I've rated cleanness average because there was a lot of hair in the bathroom when I arrived. Had to literally take it off during 5 minutes. Thick long hair... Not sure how they didn't spot it.
Apart of that they were cleaning all right the rest of the stay.
Internet was not easy to get when in the room but in common areas or close to the door of the room works better. Don't save on a sim card and buy at the airport for having internet at all times on your phone. Will help you with maps and outside anyway.
The taxi from the airport was very convenient only 30 minutes and I ordered with grab came within 5 minutes.
