This really is a beautiful hotel. We loved that it was adults only, ski in and out, with amazing Spa areas. We booked a double room, no balcony. Our room was on the 3rd floor above the Blue Birdie and golf area. It was very peaceful and overlooked the mountains and t-bar Lift. The room was spacious, with a large bathroom. It was clean and fresh. No balcony but lots of windows. Decor wise I’d say old fashioned, rather than stylish or contemporary. You even had a good old fashioned metal key to get in. Other rooms had electronic key cards. The images on line suggest the hotel does have more modern stylish rooms than ours was. The bed and bedding was comfy and felt of good quality. The room was basic, no tea/coffee, fridge or mini bar. A glass bottle of water was topped up and left everyday. It was far too hot in the room, even with the radiators off, but that’s been our experience in all Austrian ski hotels, so we was expecting it. There is room service for food and drinks, but no obvious menu to order from. So we didn’t bother. We instead purchased some drinks and snacks from the ski shop under the hotel. The shower was over the bath with a bi fold screen. The bathroom was basic, but fresh, clean with a heated towel rail. There were limited bathroom room amenities. There was a liquid hand soap, a hair shower gel and a bottle of moisturiser (all lovely). No Separate shampoo and conditioner, I have long hair so regretted not taking my own. Wall based hairdryer was ok. There were robes, slippers and a little bag to carry your bits and bobs when using the spa areas. Towels were fine, one hand towel and one bath towel each, a floor mat, no flannels. Housekeeping were excellent and in every day. Fabulous and real ski in and out, each room has an allocated ski locker. Our locker was in an awkward corner which was a pain, but all the others seemed ok. The ski hire shop is below the hotel and has a large ski shop which also sold some drinks/snacks and other essentials for skiing and not skiing. This was handy as there are no shops or shopping options in Hochgurgl. Its purely ski hotels and ski lifts. You can get the cable car down to the main road and catch a bus into Obergurgl where there are lots of shops, some restaurants and a mini supermarket. There were a few places to eat/drink up the mountains whilst out skiing but most days we didn’t eat lunch as we came down and ate at the hotel as it was amazing. Ski conditions were not the best due to the unusually hot weather and lack of snow, we were unlucky. The slopes were either solid and icy early or lumpy slushy come lunchtime. Excellent lift system, lots of blues, reds and couple of blacks. There were some quite challenging blues for learners (icy, narrow and busy), made worse when busy. It was busy at times but our instructor said it was quieter than it had been. You can get the bus or ski across to other resorts if you have the region pass. We loved Hochgurl, just wish
