Bayside Geelong Hotel & Apartments, an Ascend Collection Hotel

Booked in to a 2 bedroom room for an overnight stay with my family. Nothing but disappointment with the room, the staff and the restaurant. Bathroom ceiling had mould all over it, kitchen hadn’t been cleaned properly there was still food on the chopping board and in the microwave. Rangehood was filthy, mini bar items were out of date. Master bedroom wallpaper was mouldy and falling off. The entire room had a musky smell to it. The restaurant is extremely overpriced and the food was terrible. Had undercooked barramundi with a few chips and lettuce leaves with a bit of dressing on them for $32. Reported the room to reception only to be told all they could do was pass it on to housekeeping in the morning. Rude arrogant and completely unhelpful!

The sea is just across the road. Every morning you can have your breakfast and at the same time watch the sunrise. The Black Salt Restaurant has glass panels all round and you can easily watch the sunrise and also all the hustling as the cars passes by. Rooms were spacious. However, the cost of the items is quite high, even the mineral water is not free. It is better to stock up your minbar with purchases from the super markets.

Stayed here for a short break. Very comfortable room with great views over Corio Bay and a reasonable walk to the city centre. Enjoyed walking along The Esplanade each morning to soak in the sights and enjoy the variety of cafes and restaurants this great city has to offer. Enjoyed one evening meal in my room which was very nice and also dined at the Black Salt Restaurant downstairs for special lunch deal - good value and again with great views.

This is the 1st time I've been motivated to write a review, this place is great & you can sense that the staff have a care factor especially with property maintenance, garden etc :-) Our 2 night stay was fabulous - Summer Family Stay package. The rooms were very clean, fresh and modern. The separate kids room with 2 single beds was like a 1/2 sized room - a bit small but the kids enjoyed their own space and we appreciated being able to watch tv in the next room without waking them. The pool was perfect, so clean, great sun lounges & umbrellas. Depth was 0.9 at shallow and 1.9mts deep - perfect for big & small kids. The artificial grass to edge of pool made it so tidy and stopped any stubbed toes or scrapes. The buffet bfast was so fresh and a great range of items - loved the fridge cabinet that all the yoghurts and fruit salad kept in - ice cold. So handy to have undercover car parking - kept the car cool on hot days. Across the road there is a jetty/pier, lots of boats and paved walking tracks that go down by the water and into the city centre, next time we'll bring our joggers and scooters and enjoy the water walk. Highly recommend this property and we'll definitely visit again. Jane D

I treated myself to 1 night in a bayview room and was not disappointed. The modern room was light, airy, clean and comfortable. I had no issues and if I visit Geelong again there is only 1 place that I'd stay.

What a lovely surprise! Our stay at Bayside Geelong has been a pleasant surprise. After searching for accommodation, we decided to stay here and, boy, we’re glad we did. Extremely clean rooms and our room was so big and beautiful. Comfy bed, lovely bathroom & shower with added touches like a loofah and quality toiletries. Breakfast was just lovely - simple continental. Customer service has been exceptional and check-in was a breeze. Can’t fault this place.
