Holiday Inn Express & Suites Gaylord, an Ihg Hotel

The hotel is pretty new and well kept. They seem a little short staffed, but otherwise the hotel was good. Our room was overbooked, so we had to take a downgrade. Not ideal, but they did the best they could at the time. Unfortunately our room was right by the front entrance, so cars idling outside our window kept me up most of the night.

Very friendly staff let you feel right at home , especially Stephanie was a delightful person, very attentive and helpful, The big bonus at this hotel is they have rooms that can hold more than four people which is a big plus when you’re travelling with a big company, It is close to the highway to the main street, so there are a lot of options of food. It’s very easy to get in and get out, All in all, I would definitely recommend sleeping in this hotel .

Comfortable, clean room. Bed was also very comfortable. Check in and out was quick and easy. Breakfast was fresh and very good - especially liked the pancakes with different syrup selections. Biscuits and gravy were also pretty good. Would highly recommend.

Asked for a 7:30 AM wake up call but never got it. The alarm clock ( room 108 ) didn't work as an alarm clock or a clock for that matter, did make a great night light though. The lamp next to the bed was missing it's light bulb and trying to charge anything on the outlets under the TV didn't work, no power. Very clean and minimalist in the room, beds were a bit too soft for my taste. Didn't get to try their breakfast bar because of the no wake up call. Get a room away from the highway, it'll be quieter.

First time here and what a great hotel. Staff is amazing and room and hotel CLEAN! Breakfast was amazing and love the staff as they are very friendly and cared about my stay. Cant wait to come back again soon!

We *loved* this hotel. We don't get to say that a lot lately. The room, (with the exception of the bathroom floor needing to be mopped and was an easy DIY fix), was one of the cleanest hotel rooms we have seen in a long while. We really appreciated that! The front desk staff were so nice and helpful. We were upgraded, (thank you so much!), and recognized for our status which is always appreciated. There is Diamond parking out front, too, which is something not all IHG properties do anymore. The breakfast was well-stocked which is good because the hotel was busy. Overall, a good experience.

We stayed at this hotel for just one night as we were booked for a birding tour in the area. This Holiday Inn Express was rather tired and we did not think it was up to the usual HIE standard. Having said that there was nothing wrong in particular just a tired/old ambience. The staff were all pleasant and helpful and the room just OK.

Booking this room I was thinking it would be mediocre. I was off on that. We had a double queen suite, so did our two adult kids. We were all very happy. The place was super clean. The 4 kids, ages 5-10 had a blast swimming in the pool. The kids were all going skiing for one day, and we all sat in the breakfast area for about an hour and a half before they left for the day. The breakfast was very good, surprisingly so-eggs, sausage, potatoes, cereal, oatmeal, pancakes, pastries, and whatever anyone would need to get ready for the day. Good coffee too in very clean eating area (wasn't starbucks but above average). The best part though was the customer service was well above average. We were in there for awhile, kids coloring and being at times rowdy, etc., and the staff were all super patient and nice with the talkative/busy/rowdy crew we have. Shout out to Donovan and crew. Donovan was working the front desk, and the sweet lady working the breakfast area were the best!! sorry I didn't catch her name, but wished I wouldve. They were both very kind to all of us adults and all 4 gkids. Very accommodating and better than many 5 star hotels weve been to as far as customer service goes. They went above and beyond in the CS dept. That kind of customer service is hard to come by lately in the post Covid era. Rooms were very good too. Clean, comfy beds, and the room we had was spacious with a small living/kitchen counter area.. The prices were less than I'd expect for the service and accommodations. The last two places we stayed at were triple this price for one night and well, left a lot to be desired. Not one thing to complain about. Perfect stay all the way around. Ive never reviewed a Holiday Inn Express, and probably would not have if it werent for the fact I felt compelled to give the employees here a well deserved shout out!!!

This is our favorite stop when heading to northern Michigan. The staff is consistently friendly and polite. They have the personality that makes you feel welcome and appreciated as a guest. The property is clean as are the rooms. Beds provide for a restful sleep.
