SpringHill Suites Galveston Island

I was kind of scared before going here because there are some bad reviews that can really influence your booking so I hope my review helps everyone! The location is extremely convenient for cruise ship travel or just to sightseeing Galveston and/or going to the beach! The hotel staff was respectful, humble, nice and very serviceable. The hotel is old you can tell yet the room was very cleaned and spacious, no issues at all. There is a laundry with one washer and one dryer at $1.25 only which is very rare to find so this really helped! Its about 10-15 minutes from the La Marque, TX Avis rental car place. The hotel area is pretty safe as its surrounded by private residences and other hotels and businesses. There is plenty to do the night before a cruise and again extremely close to the cruise terminal! I recommend this hotel for single people or families. Again my experience was great and thar really matters! They also have an indoor pool which is amazing, the gym only has one treadmill. Hope this helps!

I confirmed with Marriott and the hotel itself that they offered cruise parking and the day we are supposed to get on the carnival breeze the manager says they don’t offer cruise parking and she says it VERY rudely

For a last minute booking we got to stay one night in Galveston at the start of the Memorial Day weekend. This hotel was located off the Broadway exit along where lines of cars were exiting off the bridge. This was a constant flow during our entire stay and made it a little challenging to get out of the hotel parking lot with so many cars passing by. To get back from The Strand or other parts of Galveston it was best to take Avenue L and enter the hotel from the back. This avoided the backup on Broadway. Our room had a view of the next door hotel and was a little older with dark colors but at least was roomy, had a refrigerator and microwave and small seating area. Bathroom was small and not sure why they don’t have lids on their toilets. I was quite shocked to see what they called a hotel gym. On the tiny room it held one treadmill, 2 mini steppers (the kind that you could use under a desk), 4 sets of dumbbells and 3 kettlebells. Maybe qualifies as a starter home gym for one person. Free breakfast in the morning was the standard fare. One stay was good enough for us.

Had only an overnight stay for an early appt at Shriner's the next morning. No complaints whatsoever. We loved the indoor pool and hot tub. Our room was spacious and comfortable. We had a 2 double bed suite with fold out couch. Everything was clean. Staff was friendly and checked with us to ask if our room was ok. The breakfast was plentiful and had a variety of choices. I don't usually eat oatmeal but I could not pass up the oatmeal bar with all its toppings and fruits and nuts. There was 3 types of juices, eggs that were scrambled and boiled, jalapeño mini-quiches, sausage, cereals, various breads, milk, yogurt, waffles, fruit and coffee. I had read someone else complaining about the smallness of the pool. I think some people forget that Galveston is an island with very limited space. The island has had to be built up several times to remain above the tide. The city has weathered many storms, and things are not going to stay pristine in that harsh sun and salt-spray environment. Target is right across the highway via an underpass, so easy access. There is a view of the bay but again, it's not pristine. It's a port city, thus it looks like one. We will definitely stay again.

My daughter and I stayed before going on a cruise. I booked using a free night without reading reviews. Later, I read some negative reviews and became alarmed. Absolutely nothing to worry about here. Friendly staff, clean rooms, great breakfast. Yes, it is a little older than some Marriotts but I would definitely stay here again. Absolutely no complaints.

The worst Marriott I’ve ever stayed in. Beds were more like twin beds than doubles and the room and hotel is very outdated. Marriott reward members will completely be disappointed if they looking for an above subpar stay.

Stayed at this hotel for a couple of nights before going on my cruise. The hotel is a bit outdated but overall rooms were nice and clean and breakfast was wonderful! The staff was great especially the night agent Leisy! Even though she mention she was new she check us in fast and was a wonderful help thru out the night while we needed a few items for our room! Will return!!

We stayed here for a couple nights prior to leaving on our cruise. Our family stays in a lot of Marriott hotels. This one is on the way to being outdated. The room was very dark, and so it looked dingy and it was hard to see, but the furnishings and carpets were definitely not anywhere near to new. We only had double size beds and they weren’t that comfortable. The pillows were terribly lumpy. It also seemed like our room had been half stocked. I’m not sure if that’s normal or if our room was just kind of half done before we got there. I had to ask for face cloths and more towels because there wasn’t enough for a family of 4 for 3 nights - and of course now they don’t come clean the rooms so you don’t get your towels changed. Things like paper/pen and tea were not in my room. There were no regular plugs in the sleeping area so Forget plugging your phone in next to you at night - there was one old alarm clock that had one usb plug on it, but if you were charging it while using your phone any sound would play thru the clock. Super annoying. The lobby is nice and the front desk was friendly enough. Breakfast was good with decent selection of hot and cold food. The coffee bar is tucked in an awkward corner and they only have Earl Grey tea - so too bad if you don’t want caffeine. There was a pool, the hot tub water was green - maybe a bit questionable, I’ll leave it at that. All in all, our stay was not terrible. But it also wasn’t great. I would not stay here again though anytime soon.
