Serendib Beach Hotel

Not the best choice. This was our third stop in Srilanka, this was suppose to be our stop for the Anniversary celebration, booked 2 nights considering we will relax but resort has lots of issues. The property looks totally empty and old. Lots of opportunity as it is sea front resort but looks like the hotel owner can’t upkeep the maintenance. Room- AC does not work, we had to shift our room in the 1st night after coming back from dinner to rest. As there were no king bed, we slept in a twin room on our anniversary day, very disappointed. WC was dirty and water was muddy. Restaurant and Room Service does not have any offerings, selection of food in buffet was poor and only local food. Being a tropical place, there were no choices of fruits. No seafood was available when we asked. We had all our meals outside except for Breakfast. The only good thing was the pool and the beach access. Requested for balcony with sea view so we got it. Wifi had a good connectivity. Given a choice between bentota and Colombo, would have stayed longer in Colombo. Bentota is just ok and not great.

Me and my wife stayed there for 2 days, being the second day of our anniversary. I would strongly not recommend this hotel as it has several issues. Rooms - we had booked a room with king bed and got it. However the AC stopped working in the night and we had to move to a different room where they wanted us to stay in a twin bed room being a husband wife spending our anniversary. And the more surprisingly, when we had to change the room coj of no option, staff were watching me n wife carrying our luggages by ourselves from existing room to the other. They didn't even bother to help. Room sizes are good but very very poorly maintained. Sea facing rooms have good views. Food and Beverage - the most pathetic part is their F&B. Chipped, stained crockery, cutlery and glasses. Buffet looks and feels absolutely horrifying. Choices are very local, limited and not as per international standards. So international people be very careful choosing this place. We had only breakfast and avoided any meals. Fruits are very cheap anywhere in Srilanka but they give almost nothing only 2 choices - watermelon and papaya that too also almost very prior stage of being rotten. We had food in both the days in different restaurant which is nearby and amazingly good. Room service menu has sandwich, pasta, and soft drinks. House Keeping - almost doesn't exist. They don't have any kit. No duvet, so if u feel cold just put the ac off and then when you feel warm put the AC on which may hamper your sleep. The 2nd option is you can ask for 2 - 3 bed sheets. Insect and ants almost everywhere. Overall very lousy hotel. You can search other hotels nearby where the rates are almost same but they provide great experience.

the room had a good view of the sea and pool.The staff is also super friendly.For a budget mid range,it is a good hotel. Maybe they can improve on the TV channels offered and the WIFI connectivity.Rest all was good

The hotel has great access to the sea and the pool, with a lot of shade during day hours. Also, air conditioning in the rooms is nice and room itself had great view and was spacious. Also the hotel was not crowded at all, probably due to COVID. Now to the issues: - service was very slow, we had to wait very long time for anything, from new towel which they forgot to give us to train station schedule we asked to share with us. We literally had to chase stuff around to get what we wanted and remind that we need room cleaned, we need fresh water etc etc. - not all of the stuff speaks good English, it was hard to communicate, and they did not try to solve this problem (like call for a colleague with better level of English), they would just smile and leave - bed linen and towels are of bad quality and have holes in it, looking at reviews here I think they did not change it since 2019 - food in restaurant was okay, but the service was very slow, one time I kept asking to bring me menu for like 40 minutes to order more food for my friend, and in the end got a reply “oh, the kitchen is already closed”. A manager quickly stepped in and resolved the situation, though. - WiFi was terrible. - rooms were cleaned poorly and sometimes after multiple reminders In general, I think it is overpriced despite great location, I really wish this place to improve stuff attitude, linen quality and internet.
