The Lady Hill Hotel

The rooftop restaurant is one of the loveliest restaurants I've ever been to and I've been in elegant restaurants all over the world. Breathtaking views of Galle 300 degrees around. The kitchen is in full view for the remaining 60 degrees. Get the Lion Ice beer and Jumbo Prawns, skip the filet fish is served on a hotplate so unless you eat fast it ends up being overdone. Service is impeccable, unlike the pretentious and yet obsequious rushed and interrupting American style. Not cheap by Sri Lankan standards but an excellent value by European or American sensibilities. Come an hour before sunset, and it's a climb but a nice hike up the hill. Don't pay a Tuktuk more than 500 from the fort area. I would call this a MUST visit.

Amazing stay. We stayed here with out big group with many kids and it was amazing. The service, location is top class. Chandimal, Jeevan and life guard Gayan gave us an exception service at the pool bar and they also arranged aqua gym for us. Would definitely come back.

We had a fabulous stay , family of four adults . The hotel was fabulous , location was perfect and view was amazing . The staff were superb , very attentive and nothing was too much . Dinner and breakfast in the roof top restaurant was excellent. Rooms were very clean and beds very comfortable . I would definitely recommend to stay here 😍

I recently undertook a two week tour of Sri Lanka in a group of six and we stayed in 8 different hotels during our trip. This hotel was my favourite and I can unreservedly recommend it. It is situated on a hill about 20 mins walk from the scenic Dutch Fort district and has superb views across the city. The staff went out of their way to welcome us on arrival and throughout our stay the service we received….reception, housekeeping, restaurant and management…was warm, friendly and efficient. Nothing was too much trouble. The room I stayed in was spacious, clean and although the hotel itself is colonial, (once a vicarage for the head of the CofE in Galle) the rooms are bright, modern and comfortable. There were lots of English channels available on TV should you wish to relax and watch something other than BBC news which is what was available in most other places. The restaurant cooks food to order so we had a plentiful supply of freshly cooked food of a high standard and we were entertained by a lovely young singer/guitarist while dining in the evening. As it was my birthday whilst there the group leader arranged for a delicious birthday cake presented to me after breakfast. A group of about six staff came to see us off on our departure which was a nice, personal touch which we appreciated. Do not be put off that it is up a hill. The walk down is easy but some might find it a bit of a pull back up when it’s hot. Tuk tuks are absolutely everywhere and from the fort district the fare for two people was only 200 rupees (50p!) if you didn’t want to walk the return uphill journey. Just agree the price first and insist if it seems any higher. And once back to the hotel, take a dip in the pool - clean and like a warm bath - a real delight as the sun sets.

I should say that this is a must visit place in Galle. A hotel with a bird’s eye view and an incredible service!! Also the food was super delicious and served in clean hands! Had a nice time with The Lady Hill and the team. All love for the team and keep up the amazing work!!!

The photos don’t do it justice as you can’t communicate how peaceful it is, how wonderful the staff were, how amazing the whole place is and how great the food is. We stayed one night from the UK and wished we could have stayed longer! From the greeting, all through the stay and to when we left every staff member was kind, helpful, friendly and the peacefulness of the place even reflected in the staff! They were very welcoming to the children; one of which described it as like being at home - (the dog and cats who lived there helped!) The whole place was perfectly clean. We all loved it and would stay again if we ever came back.

Excellent ...great view, food was amazing. Highly recommend . Great choices very scenic. Sensational. Good service. I was there with my brother we enjoyed a nice dinner . It was mouthwatering. Really the most breathtaking thing wasnthe view at the restaurant.

We booked a group lunch and we are completely satisfied with the spread quantity taste and the excellent service by the staff . Ambience of the hotel resembles a lot about the historic value of Galle city . Real good value for money. We will certainly come again .
