I stayed at NEXT Hotel in Funchal and honestly, this was probably the best hotel experience we've had during a vacation. First of all, the location is perfect. It's super close to the city center, within walking distance to places like the port area, CR7 museum, restaurants, car rental spots and more. If you're using Bolt, it's just around 20 minutes from the airport, so getting there was really easy and convenient. Plus, being right next to the sea, the general vibe and views from the hotel are just spectacular. We booked the Ocean View Room because we fell in love with the pictures online, and let me tell you, the room was exactly as described. Spacious, clean, comfy, and that balcony view... wow. I could honestly sit there for hours just staring at the ocean. It was peaceful, relaxing, and gave me such a calm state of mind. The room had everything we needed – large comfy beds, a sofa, table, chair, TV with a good selection of English channels, AC (though in April we barely needed it because the weather was perfect), a mini bar, kettle, and a safe. The convenience of managing everything through the app was also a really nice touch. Whether it was controlling the room settings or checking hotel info, it made things super easy and modern. The only small thing I’d mention is that the tea and coffee supplies weren’t stocked in the room. You have to buy them at reception, which can be a bit inconvenient, especially if you arrive late and just want a cup of tea. But honestly, it’s such a minor thing that it didn’t bother us much. The bathroom was simple – just a shower, sink, and toilet, nothing fancy, but it did the job. We weren’t too keen on the shower products provided, so we bought our own, but again, not a big deal. Housekeeping came every day, kept the room spotless, and changed towels daily which was great. Now, the real highlight besides the view was the breakfast. Oh my god, this was hands down the best breakfast we've had in any hotel so far. Huge selection, delicious food, and it changed daily which kept things interesting. I honestly looked forward to breakfast every morning. The hotel has great facilities too – two pools, including a rooftop pool which is awesome. The lower pool wasn’t as inviting because of its pale color, but that’s just a visual thing. We didn’t use the gym or spa since we were out hiking most of the time, but coming back to that cozy room with the ocean view after a long day was the perfect way to end each day. The staff was always friendly and helpful, and everything about our stay went smoothly. What made it even better was the price – compared to other hotels in the area, NEXT Hotel offered so much for a really good cost. It felt like we got way more value than what we paid for. All in all, this was one of the best experiences we've had in a long time. I 100% recommend this hotel if you're visiting Funchal. The hotel is modern and spacious with a terrazzo theme throughout. It is kept very clean and the staff are friendly. We had brunch in the Recharge bar several times which is a real hidden gem. The bar has both typical brunch food as well as modern dishes and is some of the healthiest we found in Funchal as well as being good quality and tasty. The Recharge bar is beautifully furnished. The restaurant is situated behind a street with several good quality restaurants and isn't too far to walk into the old town. There is sea access from the hotel which we enjoyed each day and there is a reasonably well equipped gym with several machines and free weights up to 14kg. On the first night we stayed in a beautiful room on the 10th floor which was flooded with light and had a large balcony. The only downside was the DJ playing until 23:30 just above our room. If you usually go to bed after 23:30 or if you are used to sleeping with noise then I don't think this would be a problem. For us, however, it was an issue so we asked to move rooms. The next night we moved to the 7th floor where no music could be heard and we were more than adequately compensated for the disruption to sleep on the first night. The member of reception who liaised with the manager for us was extremely patient and polite throughout the process.

Excellently appointed hotel in a really good location. Rooms were spacious and spotless, cleaned every day. The view we had was beautiful over the sea. Fantastic breakfast with all you could wish for. Friendly staff. Located near some fantastic bars and restaurants. Has a young vibe about it which we loved.

We stayed at this hotel for five nights in November 2024 and had a wonderful experience. The hotel is very modern, with contemporary rooms that are spacious and thoughtfully designed. Our room featured an excellent terrace where I could smoke - a great addition to the space. Adjacent to the reception area, there’s a small but a pretty looking 24-hour bar, where you can grab drinks, sandwiches, croissants, and other snacks anytime—a very convenient feature! The gym 24 hours and was well-equipped with good-quality machines - that was good. Across the road, the hotel also has another bar located next to the swimming pool. It served great drinks and had a lovely ambiance, perfect for unwinding. Breakfast was included in our stay, and it was quite enjoyable with a good variety of options to start the day. The hotel’s location is fantastic. It’s surrounded by excellent bars and restaurants offering diverse cuisines, and the picturesque CR7 Square is just a 5-minute walk away. Additionally, there are two grocery stores/minimarts nearby, which added to the convenience. The staff were friendly, courteous, and always ready to help, which made our stay even more pleasant. Overall, this is a great hotel, and I would highly recommend.

We can't thank the staff during our staff in particularwe would like to thank Magna, who arranged a pedi ure for me at Invogue in the Plaza shopping centre. I usually have one a month in the UK. This pedicure was the Best. Again Magna was so helpful in giving us advice on places to go and things to do eg: Flower Festival etc. Raquel on our first evening arranged alternative accommodation with out hesitation and then on further more suitable accommodation. Jessica who ran the reception Bar who was also helpful warm and friendly. In fact these ladies were so kind and considerate, I wouldlike to give them all a Big Hug for making our stay comfortable enjoyable they were all professional. This has the potential to be a really nice hotel. Unfortunately the negatives far outweighed the positives for us. Positives- Lovely modern rooms, very quiet and efficient air conditioning, good location.Nice rooftop pool (though weather too cold while we were there to enjoy). Nice sheltered balcony. Negatives- No storage in rooms - only one drawer between two of us and small hanging space meaning room untidy all week as only one open bench to store all your belongings. Terrible loud music in corridors and lifts- totally inappropriate for majority of clientele in hotel. Lobby bar very dark. To access pool bar and restaurant meant going across the road via bridge which was open to the elements. As we had a week of frequent heavy rain, this caused us a few problems. Visited restaurant once, but very cold whilst we were there as permanently open doors to pool area. We definitely wouldn’t return. Called in Royal Savoy on our last day for poolside cocktails- far better service, surroundings and considerably cheaper drinks. We found out we could charge drinks to our room from here as part of Savoy group. If we had known this beforehand we would have spent most of our time here rather than at Next.
