We have just stayed here for 3 nights as a relaxing pit stop while travelling around the Amalfi coast and couldn’t recommend it more for that. The staff are truly brilliant, I unfortunately can’t remember her name but there was one younger lady with long dark hair who was incredibly helpful. The pool is fed by thermal spring, which makes it very warm! There is chilled music by the pool- the perfect place to relax. The hotel had clearly been newly renovated and decor felt fresh. Breakfast was wonderful, lots of variety constantly being topped up by very attentive staff. A quiet town with great restaurants is in easy walking distance & there is a bus stop outside to travel to other areas of the island. The hotel also offer a shuttle service to the beach which is again, fantastic!! Beds very very comfortable, aircon powerful, rooms immaculate and patio area a lovely place to relax. We couldn’t fault this hotel!

Siamo stati ospiti per un weekend presso il residence Villa Marinù. Struttura confortevole, il personale educato e gentile, si è messo a disposizione per aggiornarci sui trasporti, noleggiare un'auto e garantirci un'ottima permanenza. Le stanze, moderne e funzionali, venivano pulite ogni mattina e inoltre erano dotate di ottima copertura wifi , aria condizionata e tv. Il luogo è incantevole, a pochi metri dalla spiaggia di Citara e dalle terme Poseidon, con una piscina comodissima all'esterno e una piccola spa all'interno, il tutto si affaccia sul mare da cui si possono vedere straordinari tramonti. Ottimo il rapporto qualità prezzo. Consiglio questa struttura a tutti coloro i quali volessero passare le vacanze ad Ischia sia in coppia che in famiglia o con amici.

My daughter and I loved our stay. The hotel is so welcoming. All of the staff are lovely and friendly. The place is immaculate! Our room was quite minimalist but had everything we needed. There was no noise through the walls from neighbouring rooms. It was lovely to sit on the small sunny balcony and watch the world go by. We were on the ground floor at the front but it was still nice and quiet with excellent aircon. The gardens are beautiful and the pool is lovely and warm with the option of the indoor pool and spa area as well. We opted for half board as it seemed such a bargain and there’s not many places to eat unless you want to walk into Forio town. The restaurant is run with fantastic precision! You choose your evening meal at breakfast each day from the day’s menu which has a meat, fish or veggie option for the first and second courses. The food is lovely and there’s a great choice of wines. Would recommend the local red wine! You can get the hotel minibus to a nearby beach. It’s 30 euros paid in cash and you get 2 sunbeds and a parasol. The bus is free. I would recommend a beach visit. It’s very picturesque and the sea is clear and warm. We took our own beach towels rather than getting them from the reception as I think you may have to pay. All in all, I would definitely recommend the hotel if you fancy a wonderful relaxing stay.

A peaceful and reassuring experience for a solo traveller. I had a full size sea view room, with a king sized bed, made beautifully clean each day. The reception staff could not have more friendly and helpful, especially Veronica. The airport transfer went smoothly (£85 each way if travelling singly and 50 if others are on board). The thermal pools are situated in a luxuriant, well cared for garden. The pools are there for relaxation not sport being over 80 degrees. I was amused to note one couple standing in the main pool for ages just staring into their phones. I think they may even have been watching films! Useful to know: there are several different buses at the little turnaround terminal right beneath the hotel. The useful no 2 goes to the nearest town Forio and it also took me to the unmissable garden created by the composer William Walton's wife Susana. The no 23 goes to the island capital Ischia Porto from where you can walk or bus (no 7) to the amazing Castle Aragonese. Things to watch out for (obviously nothing to do with the hotel) - mosquitoes and strong waves on the nearby beach Citara bay. The beach slopes steeply and I personally found it tricky getting out of the sea. Once in, it was lovely and the free sandy beach is right on the doorstep. Apparently there's a bit of technique to getting out. There were plenty of other elderly folk managing fine so I just needed to suss out that technique. If I had not been solo, I would possibly have gone on the bus to Forio for my evening meals a few timrs for the sake of choice, but the hotel room terraces (sea view ones) and the local restaurants have tremendous views of the tramonto - sunset.

We went as part of a Broadway travel package that included excursions and were under the impression it would be 4 star accommodation. This venue is old, tired and unkempt. The reception staff were dismissive and sarcastic so it's certainly not 4* by British standards. The transfers and excursions organised not by the hotel were mostly well executed. The poolside at the hotel was lovely with great views. There is no entertainment to speak of and we witnessed another guest being charged €10 for per bottle of beer on the 'show night' which was normally €4 and they were not told there would be such a big uplift ( they'd had 4 so were not happy!) The cleaning staff regard the 'do not disturb' on the door as permission to enter and the room itself (129) was so dated with dirty sheets, plug sockets that didn't use our eu adapters and lights that worked intermittently. No tea/coffee making facilities and when we asked for a kettle they don't provide them and it was a nightmare trying to get some hot water (which was microwaved!!) from the bar. The barman was the friendliest staff member in fairness. Breakfast was poor, mostly cakes and pastries everyday, hard boiled eggs, awful scrambled version. No toast making facilities and average rea/coffee/juice selections. Some fresh fruit mostly melon, plums & pears. There are no dinner options and in October very few external choices that you can walk to so finding dinner was such hassle. We knew it was bnb but expected to have more choices locally - molo11 and bagno were nice though. The beach along from the hotel is lovely.

This is my first time here, my wife's second. She has been trying to get me here for the past two years. This time we came in a group of two couples and stayed in the exquisite Villa Giusy extension, over the hotel. Highly recommended. Il Sorriso is just super-excellent in every category. I am just sorry I didn't come years ago ! We will certainly be back at least a couple of times a year, every year, from now on. Summary; Wonderful location, amazing spa services and highest standards throughout. Amazing and super-close sea views, wonderful friendly staff, very professional but with that special warmth and dignity that comes with being an island people. As an Irishman, I appreciate and recognise these special traits. It is not just Luca and Simeone in the navettes, it is all the wonderful people from dining room to reception to pool staff who go the extra mile to check that all is well with you. We are spolied now and will expect this everywhere we go, but, in vain. There is unfortunately only one Sorriso Thermae Resort & Spa and you have to come to Ischia to find it. We have all the spa services you could want, in addition, we are right beside the justifiably famous Poiseidon Thermal Park and gardens served by the hotel navette service that also takes clients to the Spiaggia di Citara and various touristic destinations, if you really, really need to leave this oasis of comfort, pleasure and, above all, total relax. Bring some books. Your feet with sprout roots and you will develop an intense desire to just stay put and be cosseted in this paradise by these very special people. I admit it, I am still here and I am begining to wonder just how I can avoid going home.......... John
