The hotel in a centuries old villa was lovely. Of course this is not your typical hotel stay, but some of the quirks of staying in an old building were what made it so special. Above all, the staff we encountered were fantastic. Kind and welcoming and helpful whenever we needed them. The onsite restaurant was delicious, we ate two dinners there during our stay. Breakfast buffet in the morning was fine but it did not change much at all day to day so got a little monotonous. However I do understand that breakfast isn’t really a main meal in Italy so we were just grateful for what was offered to get us going in the morning. We took part in a pizza making/cooking class and wine tasting and tour during our stay led by the wonderful Julia. These were highlights and we can’t wait to recreate some of the recipes. Location so close to the piazza in Figline Valdarno and just minutes from the train station were great. Similarly we were able to drive easily into the heart of Chianti to explore its lovely towns and wineries. The shower in our room was quite small which made it a little difficult for my husband to maneuver but this is minor. Also, we had a bit of trouble adjusting the temperature in our room between the older radiator and the wall AC unit, but again, not a dealbreaker. Overall we very much enjoyed our stay and would return/recommend.
