Woodcock Inn

This place was DISMAL. We had a 2-night stay booked and left after the first night. Descriptors I would use are old, tired, awful, uncomfortable bed & pillows, holes in duvet cover, very little hot water (no matter how we turned the taps in the shower). There was NO reception in the morning, so we had no way of calling a taxi to get us outta there. Thankfully, there was a mechanic shop next door, so we went there to use their phone. They told us, that the place isnt even really a hotel, but rather it is used more like a lodging place for trades people who work in the area, and are from out of town. About the only positive thing was they agreed to refund our 2nd night when we got the booking site that we used involved in getting that refund. We also ate at the restaurant, and the food was good, but this review is for the hotel. Avoid at all costs even if you need cheap accomodations... unless you literally don't care. Rarely have I ever sought recourse on a poor choice, but I based my decision on the booking site I used & totally forgot to ck tripadvior site ratings. The ratings on the other site were quite high. The ratings here are lower, but still too high in my own opinion.

I couldn't fault the room or the staff. We were there for 1 night as flying out early hours, unbeknownst to me I had a flat tyre and had to leave the car stranded at the hotel, the staff were so very helpful and even on my return and waiting for the car to be fixed the staff were great. Great spot for Gatwick Airport, The food smelt amazing.

Location was good for airport, restaurant was nice but the room was dreadful, old tired bed and dirty. Needs renovation, also the owner does not like truthful reviews as I found out on ***********, terrible attitude to paying customer

My en-suite room was basically furnished but clean. Everything worked. About 15-20 minutes from LGW and therefore handy for an overnight stay before an early flight. The Gurkha restaurant downstairs is excellent if you like that sort of food.

Comfortable, efficient and welcoming. Excellent Nepalese food a welcome bonus. Rooms clean and comfortable. Very helpful in our time of need. Nothing was too much trouble. Thank you so much . Would like to return again, but hopefully not when we’re desperate !

Stayed for 1 night as was attending races and a concert at Lingfield. Had 2 rooms, 1 twin and 1 double. Perfectly adequate... We did have heavy footed people above us but old buildings do creak. Staff were friendly an our rooms were ready for specified time. Had tea/coffee water and porridge pots, which was a nice touch. We requested a taxi to take us to lingfield. Cost was a tenner so perfect location. Same taxi Co also eventually bought us back, some hour and half after we requested. Not hotels fault but did spoil our evening. Do not use western cars. Would definitely return to woodcock inn.
