At 11:40 on Monday, November 20, at least 18 of us were in the lobby lounge of this hotel excitedly welcoming someone who had flown from San Francisco to Detroit to be at a funeral following a tragic accident killing two of our most beloved family members. The person working the desk came over and loudly yelled that we were violating quiet hours and she was getting complaints and used a tone like this group -- average age of 50 years old -- was a group of five year olds. A polite informing of any of our group that there was such a thing as quiet hours and that there were complaints would have led all of us to be less loud and more respectful. The employee even had the gaul to claim this was the second time she told us, when it was the first time any in the group had heard anything of the sort. One of us, a veteran of the hospitality industry, went to the desk to tell the person nicely that her yelling and tone were inappropriate and she immediately said "I am not listening to you... you can take it up with the manager in the morning." DO NOT ENDURE SUCH DISRESPECT BY STAYING AT THIS PROPERTY. We have been here all week unexpectedly because of delays with arrangements. We invited all of our family members here spending more than $25k on the hotel in a very few nights because of how kind the other staff has been to us. The result we tremendous disrespect for guests that include 4 elite Bonvoy members. This is the sort of thing that will lose Marriott hundreds of thousands over our lifetimes. This clerk should be politely warned and let go if this sort of horrible guest management ever happens again.

This hotel has bedbugs and a terrible manager. We had booked a stay over the holidays and on our third morning we discovered bed bugs. We took photos so I have evidence to prove what we saw. We spoke to the front desk who moved us to another room and said they'd alert the manager. Over the new few days, every time we saw the same front desk staff they said they had spoken to the manager and she should be in contact with us. We never heard from her our entire weeklong stay and when we got home I contacted the main Marriot site to leave feedback which they forwarded to her (Chelsea Alm) and she claimed she hadn't been alerted to the situation and was now ordering an exterminator. (This was a full week later, so I suspect they had been renting this room to others if she had no idea as she claims.) The inspection report supposedly found nothing but when I shared photos she agreed that yes those were bedbugs. She did not offer any compensation until I specifically asked for a refund for the three nights we stayed in the room with the bedbugs. (When we got home, we had to deal with all of our belongings and quarantine everything in an effort not to bring them into our house, we had no desire to deal with a bedbug infestation at home.) She said it wasn't her fault we had bedbugs and refunded us for one night. We do not have bedbugs because of all the extra precautions we took, but it was a major hassle. Horrible customer service. If you look back, there have been others who also experienced bedbugs and weren't able to get ahold of the manager. Very poorly run place. Breakfast was nice, and the staff for the kitchen was incredibly friendly and helpful.

I reserved two rooms, check-in was quick and professional….absolutely the best. Much loves to the front desk! When we got into our room, the temp was 80degrees (27 to my euro friends). I turned the AC on, unpacked…..went downstairs to un-stress from travel. After I went back up, the room was still 80….switching from 81, back to 80. My daughter who was in our other room, complained about it. I told her it sometimes takes a bit. She told me their room was 80, she turned on the AC to 72 and it kicked on immediately. She started looking at my AC controller, and realized that the filter needed to be changed. She went downstairs and asked for another room for me. The desk said they were booked solid, but would call the mgr, fast forward…..my daughter came back upstairs with new keys to my new room. Like I said, kudos to those peeps at the front desk! So friendly! They deserve a raise! Moved into the new room……noticed the shower was leaking……and there were black foot prints in the shower(with chunks of dirt)…… BUT! The second I turned the temp down to 72, it kicked in immediately! So dirt chunks in my shower, when I had my daughters room available. No big deal. We arrived on a Saturday, leaving on a Monday. So my only other issue was the trash. Thetrash, outside, in the lobby, on the floors that we had……were never emptied. Meaning, over-flowing. That second day…..it was really bad. We all work in customer service, so we actually started making jokes about it…..but it wasn’t good, and something I would never expect from a Marriott. They do have an awesome barista at their Starbucks in the lobby. My son said it was the best strawberry pancakes he has ever had.

Nice, newer hotel. For families, be aware the pool is quite small. Maybe 14’ x 22’. Not much room for two families at once. 7 kids in the pool and it’s full. It is heated though, and nice in temp. There is also a nice hot tub. However, the acoustics in the pool/hot tub room are awful. If there are a few kids in the pool, two adults cannot speak to each other in the hot tub without yelling. Very difficult to hold a conversation of any sort in this room with any amount of activity.
