Mal is a great host, gave us lots of good tips (places to visit, pubs to go eat). Great sense of humour, we enjoyed our conversations. And he is a good cook, lovely english breakfast with fresh food from the butcher’s. Park and ride to York is close and easy. Lots of places to visit nearby and York is very animated. The room is fine, everything clean, we had an incredible double bed, rarely slept so well (i’m big and heavy, my wife is the opposite but it was as if we had two seperate beds) We fully recommend. Malcolm couldn't have been more friendly and hospitable, and I really enjoyed my stay. The B and B was easy to find, and in a great location, near to York but also to the coast. The room was ideal and perfectly clean with an abundance of complimentaries. The garden is a lovely addition, and the breakfast is excellent - brilliant range and quality of food. I also want to mention that this is one of the most dog-friendly B and Bs I have ever been to, which is a huge plus, as I sometimes have difficulty finding dog-friendly places to stay. I would definitely stay again.

Once again, we had a warm, friendly welcome from Mal. Our room was clean, warm and well stocked with tea, coffee, bottled water, biscuits and chocolates. The bed is very comfortable. Mal continues to provide an excellent breakfast. He offers a wide choice on his menu and his full English breakfast includes all locally sourced products. Book a visit, you will not be disappointed. We will definitely be staying with Mal again.

As always, we received a friendly welcome from Mal. The rooms are clean and very comfortable and are well stocked with tea, coffee, biscuits etc. Breakfasts are cooked to your liking using quality local produce. Off road parking is available. Hillcroft is a perfect location for visiting York and the Yorkshire Wolds. Perfect place to stay for cyclists and walkers. This was a revisit for us and we will always book a stay with Mal if in the area.

We stayed on Sat 4th March for one night. It was really good - near to the Yorkshire Aircraft Museum (which we visited the next day). There's a dedicated guest room with a TV, sofas and a real fire, the bed was comfy and the breakfast excellent. Lots of little touches showed Mal had thought about the guest experience and it did feel luxurious. I am happy to recommend. There's a pub in the village 5 minutes walk away!

We had the most wonderful experience. Malcom was so hospitable, our room was absolutely superb and the food was excellent. We’ll definitely be back (and how was the Friday night date and the fence looks so much nicer) Would recommend to everyone From Julia and Tony.

After looking for accommodation whilst visiting the York Balloon Fiesta, we came across this wonderful bed & breakfast in Fangfos, York. On arrival we was welcomed by Mal, who was polite, tentive, yet not over the top. Informed us of the key system, local places. Breakfast times and asked we complete breakfast order. The rooms were spotless and well stocked. Extremely reasonable price for a room in this establishment that is pet friendly. I definitely recommend if you are visiting York you look this place up as it is not that far from York centre.

Mal is perfect host, great room, nice decor and massive tv with sky, Netflix and Disney plus, Beautiful breakfast and host was amazing when we were very late. Wished we’d booked another night or 5. Use post code for sat nav ;)
